"I think she started a fight with them, and got what she deserved for it."

You sound just like the wife-beaters. "She mouthed off so's I kicked her around the front yard for a bit." The article says she might have had a few words for the police, but without violence the police had no reason to touch her.

I have not had a comment tick me off that bad in a while. Of all the ignorant, backasswards things to say, that takes the cake...

Yea buts it not like the cops get a commission or some kind of cut of the fines or anything.

A lot of departments are partly funded by the revenue they generate.

Yea, and I'm Hitler too, anyway, when I say she started a fight, I don't mean I think she cursed, I mean started a physical fight, as it hit them or assaulted them.

Where in your mind you equated "mouthing off" and fighting, I have no clue, but my post and your imagination are 2 different things.

I have not had a comment tick me off that bad in a while. Of all the ignorant, backasswards things to say, that takes the cake...

I'm guessing you don't actually hear yourself when you talk.

Yea, which is good for the department, but unless it somehow gets these guys a raise (not likely, that revenue is going straight to government), its not like they have real motivation or incentive to pull everyone over and ticket them (though some cities do use quotas).

If these cops were getting a cut or some kind of reward directly for their actions, then it would be different.

Funny, I do not see in the article where it states she assaulted the police. Can you point out where it states that? You can't, because it doesn't. So, you start off with the premise that she hit a cop (without ANY evidence to show for it), and segue into 'she deserved it'. If she didn't hit the officer, then it had to be because she mouthed off. Your critical thinking skills leave much to be desired, yes? Nice job of bringing Hitler in, by the way. That is a cowards way out when the facts are against them.

When something like this irritates to this degree, I will not hold back, nor will I apologize for it. You made a dumb-assed comment. No citizen 'deserves' to be assaulted by the police for saying something they do not like. Especially when the police are armed, and this woman obviously was not. The known facts are against the police at the moment, and their 'no comment' doesn't bode well. They screwed up, and they know it.

Yes, let it all out, tell us how you feel.

This entire story is her version, of what she said, obviously you believe her, I don't.

If she got bruises for "mouthing off" which she claims, and she is being honest, then they are wrong, but I doubt it, and I do think she started a fight with them, and I'm going to go a step further, Give those cops a medal, a promotion and a reward for doing a good job.

People with that attitude in light of what we know about this incident are going to be responsible for starting the next civil war. Hope you're happy about that.

Are you a cop?

No, I work in real estate, but alot of my friends are cops (ironically, differnt kinds of cops, including a couple who work in IAB), and various other types of law enforcement.

I had my fair share of both good and bad experiences with cops, some of them are bad, but the overwhelming majority are good and get little or no respect for it.

I've watched one friend almost lose his job because a lousy punk made up a story to try and beat a case (as he was getting in the squad car, he started hitting his own head on the way in to get a bruise so he could claim brutality, he had a friend there who could back him up). My friend was lucky to keep his badge by finding other witness who could back him up.

There is a heavy anti-cop bias with alot of people as if these guys are gestappo, they are good folks with badges just doing their jobs, not the long arm of big brother or the enemies of liberty.

If the war is between good cops and dirty criminals, I'll be glad to fire the first shot on the side of the good guys.

Yeah, he/she/it must be, either that or a wannabe. Anything the police say is right, and the citizen is ALWAYS in the wrong. More than 100 people have been let off of death row because cops lied in order to get their mugs and names in the paper. More than 100, out of only 3500 or so. Pretty dang big percentage. "We're the government, and we are here to help!"

I've had a cop tell me that I sprang up from the operating table (while the operation was still going on) and committed a burglary, because he could 'tell I did it'. Yep, I trust cops. Sure I do.

And I had one cop (granted, he was a friend of mine) save a girl from a rape near my house.

Yep, he must be evil, can't trust those guys Sarcasm.

Then maybe they should find something more productive to do. Make no mistake, I have a great deal of respect and admiration for those people we used to call "peace officers". The trouble is, they really don't exist anymore.

No, I don't trust police who beat up women. I don't trust police who pull people over for DWI when they haven't been drinking. You will notice the groom was NOT ticketed. These police officers were not out to enforce the law, they were out to fill coffers for the town. And they acted accordingly.

My one and only child is a Federal LEO. I am very proud of him. But some of his stories worry me (and him)greatly. Some people have gotten into the business for all the wrong reasons. It is not to protect and to serve, it is to wield power over others. This sounds alot like what he has told me. Their badge has consumed them, and they are on a power trip.

Your defense of the police is admirable. It is also very misguided, and dangerous.

Either the area your in has some really bad cops, or you have had some bad experiences with them.

I'll admit, I'm very pro cops (rank and file, not the brass) because I have alot of friends who are cops, and several more joinging the acadamy in january.

I lost one of them on 9/11.

Most of them are good, and like any other occupation, there are going to be some bad ones, but I hate this whole "Lump everyone in together" attitude with everyone in law enforcement, and I hate watching my friends get put down for doing their jobs by people who just assume they are bad.

By the way, the reason I have so many friends in law enforcement goes back to college, alot of my frat bros and alumni wound up going into all sorts of different fields of law enforcement, and I became friends with some of the people they know, and it spreads.

Unfortunately, even those of us who are unconscious are criminals now. I'm pretty sure that one is a criminal as soon as they are mobile.

We're all criminals, we just haven't all been caught yet.

I'm not going to say alot of bad guys don't go into law enforcement that shouldn't be there, because I know jerks do get in, but thats any occupation.

My reason for defending cops is more personal.

I have alot of friends who became cops, and they are good guys, but they deal with alot of bad BS just because they are cops or because another cop who was bad did something.

I don't like lumping them all in together, I've had experiences with bad cops, but most have been very good (especially my friends).

In this story, the cops can't comment, but they weren't suspended, and all we have is this womans version of what happened, and if a cop was going to "tune" someone up, they sure as hell would not giveing them a business card with congratulations on it or bother driving the car all the way somewhere else and wasting their own time just so this couple has to go back and get it.

My oldest son is a cop. He KNOWS there are some evil minded LEO's, who could care less about your rights.

If you're going to draw because a cop says so, don't be too sure you're firing at a bad guy!

I have three daughters. I'm glad a cop took the time away from the click it or ticket revenue campaign, to do some real police work!

"I'll admit, I'm very pro cops (rank and file, not the brass)"

In order for the rank and file to remain, they must satisfy the brass. Today that can be scary given the priorities that political correctness has created and the criteria used to evaluate officer performance.

Increased budgets for the department means increased money for all sorts of things, including new patrol cars and nifty new military-style gear. Some departments are even issuing their regular officers SWAT-style body armor and M-16s.

This stuff mostly just gets carried in the trunk of the car, but still, the guys want it.
