Rus ..... thank you for this Military/D-Day Thread.

We must never forget those (past and present) who have fought and died to preserve our FReedoms.

Please remember our current military as they continue this task.

Freedom is not FREE!

I tried, but the best I could do was to get the flag colors to show up - there is too much *noise* overall, and I can't believe the pics are that large in bytes to be so fuzzy - the last one is 576159 bytes - that's HUGE!!! Even the first one at 88,034 bytes is way too large, considering the lack of clarity. I don't think they can be 'fixed' - I'm sorry. If it were me, I would delete them. :(

Considering the conditions they were taken in, I'm not surprised they weren't better. I think they were taken with a picture phone, and they were moving down the road pretty fast (for a humvee!). They are too meaningful to delete, the flag came home with MrTank. At least I know what they are. :)

Thanks for trying!!

From the site:
This presentation was originally created for and dedicated to a wonderful young lady who lost her husband in Afghanistan who we got to know over the internet. I posted this one for her but also as a reminder to those who live near families whose husbands and wives have given their lives for their country and those who are currently serving. Let's not forget the sacrifice made by our military families."

My prayers and gratitude go out to the family of Sgt. Jamie Gray. May he rest in God's arms.
I thank your husband for serving our country.

A special thank you for all of our WW2 vets and especially those who survived Normandy (and for the souls and families of those who didn't). What a turning point in our history.

Thanks for the memories LadyX.

I had a brother-in-law that served us well in both WWII and Korea. A hero indeed... but unassuming and such a gentle, kind man. He went to be with the Lord some 12 years ago..... so now he flies with the angels.

Hugs to you lady......

Nana

So Sistah....when are you going to get down to writing that book? If you don't do it you know I will have to. You are growing more and more philosophical with time and your postings are touching a lot of lives. The world needs your life story. Get busy. Nan the elder has spoken.

At 42 when Pearl Harbor took us into WW II, he could not enlist, but as an engineer, was based in Atlanta with The War Production Board, responsible over the seven Southeastern States.

As engineer for the War Production Board, he was probably known by my Mother and Father who worked at Redstone Arsenal and Huntsville Arsenal respectively. I feel sure that he was called in when the plant in which my Mother worked exploded, killing all but three people, my Mother being one to survive.

Your friend, Bill, died at Jackson Mem. the year I arrived in Miami. I had good friends who worked for Eastern Airlines in Miami. Just more times and people who crossed paths in our lives. How did we miss finding one another for so long? Could it be because we were both so busy moving from place to place, and just missing one another by inches?

I love the first picture because the flag is clear in the midst of all that darkness and dust. It's as if the flag takes on more symbolic meaning because it's the only clear object in the picture.

"Just more times and people who crossed paths in our lives. How did we miss finding one another for so long? Could it be because we were both so busy moving from place to place, and just missing one another by inches?"

The answer is simple, Nannikins -- He was moving us each through a series of "fires" and "storms" to refine us in preparation for His Plans for us "down the long, winding road!!"

We sputtered briefly about 4 years ago when you posted as RevNan, but it wasn't yet His Time for us to really bond..:))

That finally evolved, and he let loose the fetters, having us meet in real life almost two years ago -- and we plunge along His Path with new zeal and love for Him, truly "seeing" all that came before in proper perspective!!

Honoring the memory of your brother, Nana, and *all* those in *all conflicts/skirmishes/wars* who took a stand for freedom, so that America and her people might have a chance to survive, obtaining it for others...
