CNN announces programming changes (shuffling the deck chairs)

(CNN) -- "American Morning" is adding another O'Brien to its mix.

Miles O'Brien, a longtime CNN anchor and correspondent, is joining "AM's" Soledad O'Brien as co-anchor beginning June 20.

"We're honing the cast of 'American Morning' in order to focus on what the audience wants most and what CNN does best: the latest news delivered with the greatest intelligence," CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein said. "In a morning television landscape littered with mindless entertainment, there will be one name you can rely on for no-nonsense news: O'Brien."

Apparently, Fox is still cleaning their clock, so they're going to try some more shuffling. Although, in all honesty, I really do like Soledad O'Brien, from her days as a technology reporter. She's smart, and she's cute, good combo.

Oh, and by the way...just who the heck is the porn starlet wannabe that CNN Headline News has on in the mornings sometimes, around 9-10 am Eastern? We have big plasma screens at work in the kitchen areas, and I walk in sometimes and see this woman, and I'm gobsmacked. I swear, she looks like she walked off the set of a bad adult movie. She's no Laurie Dhue, but man, she's pretty hot from the neck up.

Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic...no matter what CNN does, they'll never get out of the rut they're in. Unless they manage to get rid of Klein, I don't see them going anywhere.

I like Miles O'Brien. This is a good move for CNN, and I hope they will get rid of the awful Jack Cafferty. I didn't like Soledad when she was at NBC, but I have liked her reporting at CNN. CNN also needs to get rid of Rick Sanchez. He is beyond obnoxious.

I mostly watch Fox, but I have always wanted CNN to get better because I watch them when they are good. Fox can get a little tabloidy at times, and it's good to have a non-network alternative to watch.

I rarely even surf by CNN anymore. I watch our local cable show, NECN a few times a week, mostly for the weather reports.

I don't know, I heard something about it going away, but I don't really pay attention to CNN. It's on in the kitchen areas in my office building, so sometimes I see it when I'm walking by (hence my question about porn-starlet Headline News anchor).

"We're honing the cast of 'American Morning'

They should start with trying to come up with an ORIGINAL name for the show. Then try to have an original thought and not regurgitating the lib talking points.

Wolf Blitzer for 3 straight hours?

::opens oven, inserts head::

The Communist News Network is never going to catch CNN with that kind of lineup.

Judy Woodruff supplied me with one of the most satifying moments in my T.V. watching life.
Election night 2002, it's approximately 11PM EST. I'm flippng through the channels and I come upon the faces of Woodruff and Aaron Brown...both appeared as if the had just eaten a bad pistachio. Priceless!

The CNN "Titanic" has hit the truth iceberg and is sinking.

Only way they can change their fate is to balance their programming. If they would only add parity to thier news...yes, a bombing is news...but so too are the thousands of good things happening in Iraq and elsewhere. They almost never show a balance in reporting, which is why CNN is an agenda driven channel and not a news channel and why their ratings have declined.

Localized EMP devices spread throught the world at their news bureaus, HQ, etc.. all simultaneous triggered...should put them out of our misery and put and end to their constant acts of sedition...and endless propoganda.

Agreed. Bill Hemmer is the only decent, apparently unbiased person on the crumby network.

If Soledad had any class, she'd walk with him, because he gave her the morning platform.

Someone who should have more spots on CNN: Jeanie Mose. She is funny.

I like Miles too. In fact, I agree with everything in your post. When the space shuttle blew apart over Texas, Miles was on the story better than anyone, cable or network - it was a good half hour before anybody else got up to speed about it. (As their longtime space correspondent pulling duty as their Weekend Anchor, he was already covering the reentry and was telling those of us on the upper TX coast to look up to the sky to see). Sometimes, with breaking events like that, Fox news' weaknesses can really come to the fore. They're good at giving an honest airing to both sides of the political spectrum, and they're good at doing the 'Missing Jessica of the Week' (oops, this week it's Natalie) and other tabloid fodder, but on certain subjects they're just painful to watch. Their back bench isn't the deepest, sad to say.

I liked the late John Holliman as well. I remember staying up until all hours one week when he narrated CNN's coverage of the Hubble telescope recovery and repair (C-Span covered it too). Remember Storey Musgrave?

An Irish movie that was released 5 or 6 years ago. "Chief Miles O'Brien" was the sorely put-upon dad in that film.
