What Howard Dean REALLY Said. (and why it's more scary than funny)
John K.

Posted on 06/08/2005 5:54:56 PM PDT by jsk10

"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for," former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean told Democrats gathered at a Manhattan hotel, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News. Jan. 29, 2005

Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean on Wednesday defended his recent harsh criticism of Republicans, including his observation that they are "pretty much a white, Christian party." June 8, 2005

I know I'm not the only one to make the link, but I'm not sure everyone is as bothered as I am about this. Howard Dean states unabashedly that he hates Republicans. Fine, absolutely his perogative to hate whoever he wants. Then he characterizes Republicans as "white Christians". Despite the absurdity of the quote (I am exhibit A as to why that quote is so stupid), this guy is the de facto head of one of the two major political parties in the United States. If he hates Republicans and everything they stand for...and states unequivocally that they are made up of Christians, he is stating he hates Christians. Is this a reach? I don't think so. He hates Republicans, Republicans are Christians. His words, not mine.

I can not argue it any better than David Limbaugh's book Persecution, but the idea that the leader of the Democratic Party is so openly hostile to the predominant religion of this country is beyond a partisan argument. It threatens the absolute foundation of of this country, I honestly believe that.

On the flip side, I think Howard Dean actually does promote faith in one way. He is proof that God exists, God has a sense of humor, and that God smiles on Republicans.

I just heard it the first time this morning and had to verify it. Luckily I keep my bible on my desk for just such an occasion.

I'm embarrassed that I didn't know it as well, being a former altar boy and having been through 8 years of Catholic School.

I don't hate demonRATS. My best friend's {staunch pubbie} son is an independent that votes for the demonRATs. He is in his mid 30's and he and his wife have their own business and work very hard. I've known him since his birth and with this exception he is very level headed. I've tried talking to him but to no avail. Rather than make myself crazy, I've stopped talking politics with him. When he once asked me why I've stopped trying to convert him, I simply replied, " With your closed mind, you're not worth my time". I do not understand why seemingly intelligent people are swayed by propoganda.

"We hate everything Dems stand for"

Yes we do .. but we DON'T HATE PEOPLE - WE HATE THEIR POLICIES - and that is the HUGE difference.

Nice pick. You are truly blessed. :)

Obadiah - shortest book in Bible. I would have lost the bet that it was even a book.

Psalms - longest book.

"Thou shall remember the Taliban, to keep them holy" - book of Howard (Dean)

I wonder what states he was talking about?

state of confusion, state of denial, state of delusion, state of dementia, and 46 others (plus the District of Columbia).

Good evening.
"I don't hate them. I pity them."

Hate is a caustic emotion that generally hurts the hater as much as the target of the hatred.

Pity is much less harmful but I think many people would rather be hated.

Hate, darkness, and tyranny go together; but, in America, in the Founding period, they were overcome with a philosophy of caring, light and liberty! Where in the world does Dean think the ideas of liberty that allow him the freedom to spew his partisan hatred came from?

Perhaps he ought to read the sermons of the Revolutionary Period, as well as the writings of the signers of our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.

His ignorance of America's philosophical foundations shouts so loudly one can hardly hear a word he's saying!

Well, I know we're not supposed to use Nazi analogies, but Howard Dean is the closest thing to Hitler that I've seen in sixty years.

I can honestly say I was a democrat although I've always been a registered independent. Now their politics, their collective elitism, and their general demeanor causes me extreme dislike for their party and the more militant members of it.

That being said my fiancee is a black democrat. She insists that she wants Kerry to run again so she can vote for him again. Nothing I've done so far has worked to change her mind.

Yeah but we hate DemoRATS so it's pretty much a wash right?

There's very little in this world that I actually hate. I disagree vehemently with much of the Dems' approach to this nation's policies. I flat out object to socialism and communism and any attempt to foist them on us. Hate? I hate the ideas that caused people to fly planes into the World Trade Center. I hate evil. And I hate deception, troll.

"but that his problem is that he thinks the republicans don't go far enough to embrace minorities."

Oh really? Pardon me while I scoff at that idea, on the night that a Democrat Senator former KKK member, BYRD voted against Justice Janice Brown for confirmation as an Appeals Court Nominee. And that's just what happenned in the last couple of hours!

Emerson said, "the gospel of hatred must be preached". Dean is doing his emersonian duty as he perceives it. Dean needs to get born-again saved and recant from his hate-mongering, frothing at the mouth miscreancy.

Nothing I've done so far has worked to change her mind.

And nothing will. The less you try, the better off you'll be.

Realization must come from the self; people that have their identities wrapped around their politcal / philiosophical beliefs take a long time to change.

IMHO, of course.
