About the screw fragment - I had read a few months ago that an investigation revealed the cause of the blade seperation: a void in the blade roughly the size of an average adult male. Just how bloody poor does your QC system have to be to allow a void that big in a casting? Which French union employee was passed out drunk when the screw was scheduled for inspection?

Is this the same Gallic Genius that brought us the Citroen Dauphine?Actually, the Dauphine is a Renault. The Citroen 2CV is the real prizewinner.

Citroen Dauphine I was thinking of that French car that opened in the front.
The only time I saw it was in a Peter Sellers movie.
To: Fog Nozzle
Sorry, my bad. I do often get Renault and Citroen models confused.

I know that BMW and Messerschmitt made cars like that in the 1950s, but I'll have to do some digging to figure out what French maker did the same.

I suspect it was simply time for lunch and one must have one's priorities, non?

Somehow they never forget about lunch breaks, vacations, holidays and the like. Thus memory loss and dementia are strangely selective there. That's why it must be called the French Disease.

Are there enough long oars on that carrier to operate it as a galley? As a trireme, it would look right. They should also consider the sail propulsion, if it is not too innovative and revolutionary.

When I think of the carrier Charles de Gaulle, I am reminded of the song "The French Mistake" at the end of Blazing Saddles.

"In a modern democracy, the debate is not between the liberal and the social, it is between immobilism and action," he said. Could someone please explain what he is trying to say here ? This guy talks like Barbara Boxer.
