That was in 2001, they gave it to Bob Baffert after Point Given won.

That was in 2001. They presented it to Bob Baffert after Point Given won the Belmont. That horse should have won the TP

I don't mind Kenny. I think he is humorous, but too much of it is nuts.

Somewhere there is an old picture of a Sunday afternoon horserace. It seems that after church meetings, the members would unhitch the buggy/carriage horses and race them. LOL!

Yea, that poor horse. I hope they retire him after this year. He just has too many health problems and its hard to find a race for him.

I believe that that is one of the ways horse racing got started. Also that is how steeplechase racing got started. Running from church steeple to church steeple.

I thought post was 5:30 ET. I caught the very end of ESPN's racing broadcast and thought I heard them say that.

Thanks, but I still need Alex to win!

I'm in the Orlando, Florida area and we are getting deluged with rain and lightening like you wouldn't believe (effects of the tropical storm hitting the Panhandle.) I just hope my TV and computer cable doesn't get knocked out again before the race is over. I want to videotape it.

Yup, I just checked on that.

I swear, they showed a #9 horse winning a race and made a comment like 'Afleet Alex bowled a 300' as they led into their bowling programming. I've been frantically checking for results for the past half hour.

FR sets me straight once again.

Well thanks a lot for filling in. I always look for these racing threads.

I heard them say that the Belmont is the oldest of the triple crown races and was run at Jerome, NY the first time and moved to Morris, NY later on. The second winner of the Belmont was a filly.

Cool! I like Afleet Alex but you can't rule out Giacamo. However it turns out these two horses should be in the top three finishers. So my official prediction is...

1. Afleet Alex
2. Giacamo
3. This week's longshot.

or...

1. Giacamo
2. Afleet Alex
3. This week's longshot.

or...

1. This week's longshot
2. Afleet Alex
3. Giacamo

Safe enough?...:-)
