How To Make Firefox Even Faster
Internet Chat Forum ^ | me222

Posted on 06/11/2005 3:25:14 PM PDT by Asphalt

This should only be done on broadband NOT on ISDN or dialup:

Go to the address bar and type in "about:config" Look for the following lines:

network.http.pipelining = false network.http.pipelining.maxrequests = 4 network.http.proxy.pipelining = false

and replace it with (click or double-click the line to change it)

network.http.pipelining = true network.http.pipelining.maxrequests = 30 network.http.proxy.pipelining = true

This means it will make 30 requests at once and not wait for a reply to the request before making another request and you'll be able to load pages MUCH faster.

one more step added.

right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

There are probably still websites that get confused by pipelining, which is why they don't turn it on by default. So if you run into problems after trying this, you should probably just go change the settings back. But if you don't have any problems, it will make your life a lot faster having it turned on.

These have been my settings for months. I'm not aware of any drawback.
