Gourmet Fare at Gitmo 'Gulag'
NewsMax ^ | June 12, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 06/12/2005 8:59:45 AM PDT by Kaslin

After Rep. Duncan Hunter's eye-opening description of how terrorist suspects are living high on the hog at the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, prisoners from around the world will no doubt be clamoring for a 'gulag' cell of their own.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, the House Armed Services Committee chairman began by detailing tonight's dinner menu at Gitmo - which all detainees, including one suspected of being involved in the 9/11 plot, will enjoy.

"For Sunday they're going to be having Orange Glazed Chicken, Fresh Fruit Roupee, Steamed Peas and Mushrooms, Rice Pilaf - we treat them very well," he told Fox.

Last night, Hunter said, the U.S. "torture victims" enjoyed the same kind of gourmet fare, including an entree of "Lemon-baked Fish."

On the other hand, feeding the detainees MRE's, the standard fare given to our troops on the front lines, is strictly verboten - considered an "abuse" under restrictions imposed by Congress, Hunter said.

The top House Republican also noted that the religious practices of the terrorist suspects held at the U.S. "gulag" are scrupulously accommodated, explaining:

"We give them honey and dates when they break fast at Ramadan. We give them prayer beads and prayer oil - all paid for [by the U.S. taxpayer.]

"In fact," he said, "if you did that for American GI's - if you had a call to prayer five times a day - the ACLU would sue on the basis that we violated the separation between church and state."

I still say we need to DEPROGRAM these people. They're in a cult, not a religion. Why we give them Korans so they can find new justifications to murder Americans is a mytery to me.

...if GI's prayed, the ACLU would sue....

Wasn't that a GREAT point made by Duncan Hunter! Too bad the main stream media won't cover that point so more Americans would wake up. Maybe we would elect better judges that wouldn't succumb to the wiles of the ACLU.

Gimme a Whataburger.

I hear commercials for Whataburger on the internet radio station I listen to (www.teamradio.com).

The announcer has a GREAT "hamburger voice." Slightly raspy, lots of deep timbre -- just makes ya wanna go EAT a big ol' burger.

Mail order just won't cut it. At a minimum, take a vacation down here and get another Whataburger. I've never understood the fascination with White Castle burgers.

One Whataburger breaks that habit in a hurry.

..Don't know about, the voice, but the burgers (and A&W Root Beer) were great! ...like the taste of the original recipe ('69, pre-1981) KFC ...not c*** they serve now....somethings you don't forget.

I never experienced an early Whataburger, so I don't know if they've changed. But they're still the best "fast food" burger I've ever had.

KFC is still decent, but it's not nearly as good as it used to be.

I read "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" when I was 13 years old in 1965. Forever in my memory is the unbelievable inhmanity the darlings of the American left were/are capable of.

For the Dims and their sycophants in the press to even hint that GITMO is some sort of Gulag is disgusting.

Saddam tortures and murders hundreds of thousands of civilians and it is nothing compared to our incarceration of TERRORISTS (also known as murderers of innocent women and children, for those of you on the left coast).

These libs hate Bush so much, they have justified Saddam's genocide in order to criticize anything Bush does in regards to terrorists.

Unbelievable.

We are now bowing to the liberal idealogy of how life should work which includes how criminals and terrorist are treated. When will the madness stop? Can liberals just take a freaking vacation? Why must they screw up every aspect of how America needs to be? Lives will be lost if we bow to this PC bullshiet.

How about a diet of Spam until we've extracted all the intel we can. .....and then finish them off with a Strasbourg-type testing of ammo.

To hear Amnesty Intl and a bunch of the RAT scumbags talk, you'd think this is exactly what we're doing.

Thanks for post #31. Nice recipe; I'll try it out with a few alterations.

pbrown, I had double bypass in Aug 2000 and eat a very low fat diet. I would prefer the stent to the invasive thoracic surgery. It's almost five years out and I'm still not over the surgery.

His stint worked wonders on him. He has so much more energy now.(giggles)

I try to cook him healthy foods low in bad cholesterol. But, he won't eat my fried chicken in olive oil...only Crisco.

I hope you get over your surgery soon. Do the Dr's know why you haven't fully recovered from your surgery yet?

Glad to hear the ticker's humming along, though! Were there some problems w/the surgery? My dad's heart surgeon told me, oh, a decade or so ago, that bypasses were becoming very nearly ''routine'' procedures. Of course, perhaps that was just surgeon's hubris.

Let me know how you tinker w/the recipe and if it turns out well. There really isn't any fat in it, bar what fat is still on the chicken. Which, naturally, you can reduce by using only boneless chicken breasts instead of whole cut-up.

After they cut you open like a shrimp, sometimes the nerves are exposed and continue to be raw (neuropathy). Sometimes I just move a certain way and it feels like a hot skewer is going through my sternum right out between my shoulder blades. Makes me gasps and generally frightens anyone around me. You really want to avoid this surgery. I wouldn't wish it even on Bill Clinton.

SAJ, I'll get back to you with the alterations after discussion with the central command.
