Shinnecock Indians In Suit Over Hamptons
AP
Jun 13, 2005 7:39 am US/Eastern
(1010 WINS) SOUTHAMPTON, Long Island The Shinnecock Indians are threatening a lawsuit - claiming they were given title to 36-hundred acres of land in the Hamptons back in 1703 -- and now they want it back. The land includes Southampton College, the Shinnecock Hills Golf Course and some of the most expensive real estate on Long Island's east end.
Attorney John Peebles - who represents the Shinnecock Indians - says he will file a lawsuit in U-S District Court in Central Islip this week seeking the land and billions of dollars in damages.
Southampton Supervisor Patrick Heaney says the lawsuit would be retalliation - because his town has fought plans by the Indians to build a casino in Hampton Bays.
What about all the improvements?
Then it will be time to go on the warpath...
Try telling your taxing authority that.
I work off the reservation and my wages are taxed state and federal just like everyone else.
But in these particular Indians case, they might end up paying no taxes.
Couldn't have happened to two nicer groups. Indians and snooty blue bloods with more money than Trump. Have at it!

Cuckoo!
LOL!! Yes indeed, The Taxman, Yeah...
Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me.
Yup, I agree with you!
Lose that tagline. Thanks.
Well, I'm guessing we've been too uppity. We should be physically dirty, wearing sardine can necklaces, holding our dirty pants up with one hand, while begging for scraps of food from white people in order to feed our kids...
I mean, we've got some nerve, don't we?
The Shinnecocks are well-known for including lots of mixed race folks.
(Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
After all, the Indians....oops, Native Americans, are living relics of the Noble Savage, the protectors of the environment who lived peacefully together in sylvan forests before the whiteys came with genocide on their minds and small pox in their glands.
What to do? Since "moral" is not in the liberal lexicon, and the fat kats like the Kennedys are fighting the windmills off shore from their compounds, we do have precedence.
The Hamptonian liberals will screw their Noble Savages right into the ground.
Leni
Jack and Lizzie Grubman will cover it. ;)
I say give the Indians that back...
Looking up residents in the phone book should be interesting. Who would own land there? The Kennedys? The Rockefellers? The Big Media elite? And who has lifetime memberships to Shinnecock Hills Golf Course? This is gonna be fun to watch...
