. . .People of goodwill may disagree about Terri Schiavo's case. Yet as our society strays from its traditional belief in the essential dignity of every human life, we all must grapple with the implications of the notion that some lives are "not worth living."
Today, assisted suicide is lawful in Oregon. In the Netherlands, according to the New York Times, prosecutors no longer pursue cases against doctors who kill severely impaired babies after birth. The temptation to deal with the defective and incompetent by eliminating them is likely to grow as our society ages. Today, approximately 4.5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease. In coming decades, projections suggest that about 40 percent of us will spend roughly 10 years in an infirm, demented condition. The way we deal with this situation will say much about us as a society.
Currently, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum is staging an exhibit . . . called "Deadly Medicine: Creating the Master Race." It examines the idea of "lebensunwertes Leben" -- lives not worthy of life --which the Nazis used to justify their elimination of thousands deemed unfit to live: the retarded, the defective and the seriously ill.
Some German intellectuals championed this idea well before the Nazi era began. A 1920 book, for example, decried "the meticulous care shown to existences which are not just absolutely worthless" -- the disabled and deformed -- "but even of negative value." It called for applying the "healing remedy" of premature death, in order to "eliminat[e] those who were born unfit for life or who later became so."
Today, we must ensure that we ourselves are not tempted to start down this slippery slope --moved by free choice rather than totalitarian edict, and seduced by a shallow notion of "death with dignity."

Well, ain't that interesting...
HOW 'BOUT THAT.
It also begs the question what is 'heroic means'. . .most people say they do not want 'extraordinary meausre/means to keep them alive; but 'water' is hardly extraordinary. . .
Seems we had better specify that we are willing to be starved to death. . .
. . .but, who knows; way things are going. ..they will probably being showing us the same kindness they give to death row prisoners. . .and with no second thoughts pervailing.
HOWEVER:
The Church of Scientology in Clearwater, also called Flag Service Organization (FSO) is a religious retreat which serves as the spiritual headquarters for Scientologists from all over the world. It is the hub of the Scientology worldwide community, a dynamic, multilingual organization and is the largest single church of Scientology in the world. psycho cult website
Surprise, surprise!
THURSDAY AFTERNOON - BREAKING NEWS: I think the Republican Party is trying to do something proper (too bad they waited until Terri was gone) but nonetheless, Governor Jeb Bush today held a press conference wherein he announced that he is asking State Attorney Bernie McCabe to investigate why it took so long for Michael Schiavo to get help for Terri while she was lying on the floor in the collapse. It was on local television.
An excellent summary! Wish I had said that, glad you did. Answers those willing to hear.

I don't care what you and your wife decide to do but I don't want anyone starving/dehydrating me or my husband to death under any circumstances.
OTHER BREAKING NEWS: Scott Thomas' mother requested that Randall Terry help her prevent his wife Eliza from pulling his feeding tube. Randall Terry either has or will have a press conference re: Scott Thomas.
Asking Bernie McCabe to investigate? Might as well ask Barney Fife!
I think it's hilarious - the spin about how we conservatives are undermining the marriage vows. Hilarious! That's the liberal spin and they're stickin' to it because they think it's going to make us get all in a dither. LOL!
You'll notice another word they're throwing around all over the place: 'Slander'.
They call people they hate haters, they project their own biases onto others and are too simple in their emotions to realize how foolish they look.
Interesting what FV said about the Flagpeople. heh

I got an email from someone claiming to be a freeper - no such screen name. I think the phrase Terri was murdered is getting to HINO. It should get to him. He should repent for letting those attorneys manipulate him into this scheme. The Judges and the euthanasia republicans are to blame. It's not all Michael's fault.
So, I blocked the freeper imposter so they can't give me a pc virus.
If they have half a clue as to how po'd people really are about the RINO's they'd move them out of the party as soon as possible.
That's great news! Do we have a daily thread to post it on?
Religious wacko is another one!
There used to be a clear understanding of what it meant to be a Bible believer. If you weren't a Bible believer and lived like a heathen you were an outcast of sorts and shamed.
Now if you do live a righteous life, as much as humanly possible, and that is your standard not the exception you are a wacko. It's gone way too far!!
Too bad. The rules have changed. If you want to excercise your Constitutional right to life, you must request it in writing, and hope the court agrees. If any of your relatives, former spouse(s), doctor, neighbor, or complete stranger says you want to be killed, that trumps everything.
To find the daily, search for "Disabled Offers Compelling" that's it. I don't know if I put the breaking news there yet or not. I'm in the middle of pinging my justice list.
