Durbin refuses to apologize for Guantanamo Bay comments (Senator Treason's Boundless Arrogance)
KWQC-TV ^ | 06/16/05

CHICAGO Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says he won't apologize for comments comparing American interrogators at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Nazis and Soviet gulags.

News of the Democrat's comparison created a buzz around the Internet today, fueled by sound bites of yesterday's Senate floor speech on radio talk shows. By this afternoon, Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna asked Durbin to apologize.

Durbin says the Bush administration should apologize for abandoning the Geneva Conventions.

Human-rights activist groups and some lawmakers -- mostly Democrats -- want Bush to close the prison.

But administration officials say some of the people who have been detained at Guantanamo later return to fight against the United States.

The utter irresponsibility and brazen sedition of the Democratic party, all in the service of their desire to attack this president and damage his public standing is nothing less than astonishing. It was bad enough when they emboldened the terrorists in Iraq with their unnecessarily partisan, divisive rhetoric on the war. But now that they're willing even to play into Al Qaeda's hands and to put gasoline on their fire, while slandering our men and women in a tough situation at Gitmo and demoralizing them, makes the Democratic leaders an enemy to this nation. No more accomodation with these people. No more compromise. It is war. This evil political party has no set itself at odds against the people of the United States and its effort to defeat Al Qaeda.

And wake up Illinois from your stupor! Stop electing demagogues like Durbin! CALL HIS OFFICE AND SHAME THIS PUKE!!!

Senator Durbin,

As one who was held in a North Vietnamese Prison for nearly seven
years and whose definition of torture and bad treatment is somewhat
at variance with yours, I deplore your senseless comments about
alleged "barbaric treatment" at our terrorist detention facility at
Guantanamo.

Your remarks comparing Guantanamo to the regimes of Stalin, Hitler
and Pol Pot are outrageous. I tried to think of why a rational human
being could make such an outlandish statement but I keep coming up
short. I thought I'd seen it all when Howard Dean performed his
infamous scream in Iowa but your diatribe yesterday eclipsed Dean's
moment of Hannibal Lecter lunacy. And your moment of pique will be
infinitely more damaging to members of our Armed Forces serving in
harm's way.

I noted, when searching for your contact information, that the first
item Google came up with was al Jazeera's joy at your comments. You,
sir, for having aided and abetted the enemy in time of war, have been
relegated in my mind to the status of Jane Fonda and your colleague,
John Kerry as contemptible traitors.

I hope not too many of our valiant members of the Armed Forces have
to suffer for your stupid comments. Shame on you.

This is copied to to the Chicago Tribune's Letters Editor. It is
blindcopied to my family members from Illinois and to several
military blog groups to which I subscribe.

Sincerely,
Paul E. Galanti

Hah. Just the issuance of a refusal to apologize means Durbin is feeling the heat. Democrats have played fast and loose with their Nazi rhetoric for too long. WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY LONGER!

Keep up the faxes and emails!!! Call your local radio shows!

Strikes me that the "psychiatric wing" of the Democrat Party is having a very public nervous breakdown.

Howard Dean (continuous;ly), Hillary Clinton (when she needs to shore up her base) and now this douchebag,

Forgive my ignorance but I assume this is your letter? If so THANK YOU for your sacrifice and service to our country.

Excellent letter and very well put. This brainless clown not only insulted our armed forces but committed an act of treason against this country.

Dick 'the turban' Durbin MUST GO!!!

Durbin's a pig. He shouldn't apologize; the fad of apologizing is crap. It means nothing. There's no sacrifice in merely apologizing. A real apology should come at a price...that's the only way it becomes meaningful. Durbin, you pig, if you're really sorry then resign. But you won't....because you're a pig.

Fifth-columnist Durbin is pulling the "a good offense is a good defense" bit. This is not surprising because he's an ongoing punk thug trained in Daley machine street mafia techniques.

However, Richie Daley does have SOME patriotism in him. So maybe he'll arrange for a horse's head to appear in traitor Durbin's bed some morning soon.

Tom Lantos made that recommendation to Craig Livingsone, but I doubt he'll do likewise to Dick the Dick.

Thank you for your service, commander. It is folks like you that created what Ronald Reagan described as "the shining city on the hill".

It is folks like you that sacrificed so much to create this extra-ordinary country, that immigrants like myself feel are so blessed and privileged to be allowed to call home.

Mental midgets like Sen Durbin belittle your sacrifice. They disgust me.

BEST COMEBACK EVER

A Soldier tells about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday, on his way home from the base.

He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the US flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock.

The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly, "yes, I always wear it and I probably always will."

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

A gentleman standing behind the soldier stepped forward, putting his arm around his shoulders, and nodding towards the soldier, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman: "Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen.

It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid."

Everyone within hearing distance cheered.

Pass this on to all your proud Americans
