Spurred on by the fact that the US mainstream media allows and even encourages the Democrats to be as outrageous as possible (after all---it’s the MSM’s Party too!), Senator Dick Durbin has decided to challenge Howard Dean and Ted “the swimmer” Kennedy for buffoon of the year; if not the decade.
Not satisfied with only comparing conservatives to the evil ones, Durbin decided to compare member of our US Military to Nazis, Cambodia’s genocidal leader Pol Pot and, of course, the Soviet gulags . In fact, he said as part of his inordinately long and loathsome diatribe:
“On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. ... On another occasion, the air conditioner had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor. If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime – Pol Pot or others – that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.”
Is this man Durbin insane? It is, also, calculated (along with the other liberal efforts to mollycoddle Islamo-fascists) to destroy the US’ efforts to stop any and all enemy combatants from killing all US citizens; which they have already vowed to do. By the way, just to put some reality into the mix, Al-Jazeera (the terrorists’ best friend) is praising Durbin! Has some demon entered the Senator’s body? It certainly seems so.
Durbin’s remarks go so far beyond despicable that even my Thesaurus couldn’t come up with an appropriate word.
Neither Durbin nor any of the other liberal and leftist Democrats seem to understand that those prisoners left at Guantanamo Bay are the “worst of the worst” al-Qaeda and Taliban captives. Testosterone does not seem to exist, anymore, within either the Democrat Party or even with liberal Republicans who side with them.
Note: At the risk of being called chauvinistic, I believe that before electing any male candidate to office their male hormone levels should be checked and the results shared with the public. It’s time that Durbin and the other less-than-competent liberal “leaders” (an oxymoron if there ever was one) who make remarks bordering on treason…resign. But, as with the UN’s Kofi Annan, no matter what the liberals Dems do or say, they won’t. It will take the American people demanding it. Are you citizens in Illinois ready to get rid of him? Believe me…the majority of the people in the country will be behind you.

The dem stratey is to trap W into a timetable so they can scream "liar" when he misses some real or imagined benchmark by a day or two. The dems hope to regain control of our government by committing treason and surrendering to our nation's enemies. They believe that the enemy of Bush is their friend. That's why the see treason as the only alternative here.
Anyone who believed that the Nazis and Soviets tortured prisioners using "rap music" would be exceedingly ignorant of political AND music history.
If you were to know my mom, you would know this is totally against her nature. She wouldn't say S#*t if she had a mouthful. Maybe this is a start to turn Illinois back to a red state. Never mind Chicago, it will always be blue, but there is a large state outside of Chicago.

As I said in another thread, our folks in Dc need to better define seditious and traitorous behavior and prosecute accordingly. The desperate dims just don't seem to have any boundaries.

I wonder if Dick realizes that under his definition of torture, that the Branch Davidians were also tortured. They had loud music piped through their compound...all night for several days in a row. They had their power and all utitlites cut...meaning they didn't have any A/C or running water for themselves or their children...for 50+ days.
And unlike the terrorists who are given 3 squares a day, a place to prayer and a Koran, David Korish's faith was mocked by many in this same media that now finds it abhorent if a Koran is mishandled. Where was little dick and these civil libertarians when this torture was occuring live on TV?

I spent the afternoon watching Durbin get absolutely destroyed on the floor of the Senate by Senators Warner, McDonnell, and Sessions. Durbin looked like he wanted to cry. Harry Reid gave a brief, whining defense but the damage was done. It was an extremely captivating afternoon of C-span TV. I mean Durbin was utterly destroyed by the GOP Senators, for at least two hours. He will forever be smaller. Wow.
There is precedent for this. Joe McCarthy was censored by the senate in the 50's.
Maybe we should call our senators and urge that they censor the SOB.
What's the best way to get the transcripts?
That's a very good question - - I would love to re-live those speeches. I do not know if there are transcripts readily available to the public, but one thing is certain - - they are in the Congressional Record forever.
Any chance C-SPAN will show a replay of that...?
More requests for a transcript, all I am finding are some pretty damaging short statements.
I sure hope so. The Senate is adjourned until Tuesday (I believe) so they may kill time between now and then with a replay of this afternoon's slaughter. I shall have my VCR ready because this was most definitely a keeper.
I happened to turn C-span on just to see what was happening this afternoon and I immediately noticed that Durbin was in a defensive "what I actually meant was" mode. He appeared to be responding to somebody, and that somebody, to my surprise, was Senator Warner. When Durbin was done, Warner came back on and continued to absolutely BURY Durbin. Then Mitch McConnell piled on with an old-fashioned belt-spanking.
After that, Reid took the floor and in an extremely agitated tone he proceeded to whine like a little girl about the "unfair" beating his "good friend from Illinois" was taking. When Reid was done, an undaunted Senator Sessions took the floor and threw about fifty more shovels of dirt on Durbin. And that's where it ended - - the Senate adjourned. It was BRUTAL - - a wonderful thing to behold.
The shame of it is that as soon as I saw what was happening I thought about flagging freepers with a "Turn on C-span NOW" vanity post but I figured people were already discussing it on the live Bolton thread that was going on at the time. I should have gone ahead.... sorry, everybody. Next time I will.

I had this thought, driving in to work this morning.
Let's just suppose that one of these BAF's (Blame America First) gets kidnapped by one of these radical Islamofascists groups, who would just as soon have seen 3 MILLION Americans killed on 9/11, as opposed to 3,000.
(Side comment: if that isn't proof that there is a God, nothing is. But I digress)
Let's say that one of these--say, DICK Turbin--gets kidnapped by one of those. Will the kidnapped call on the "Nazi-like, PolPot-like, Stalinist American military" to come and save them?
