Dear Violence Policy Center Action Network Member:
This Sunday at 7:00 PM Eastern time, NBC News' Dateline is scheduled to run a story on the threat posed by 50 caliber sniper rifles. The VPC worked closely with Dateline on the piece.
Also, yesterday by a vote of 278 to 149 the U.S. House of Representatives defeated Representative Jim Moran's (D-VA) amendment to ban the export of 50 caliber sniper rifles. Thank you to everyone who called their Member of Congress this week in support of the Moran amendment. To see how your Representative voted, click here:

While disappointed in the final outcome, the vote stands as proof that policymakers are increasingly becoming aware of the terror threat posed by these guns.
The vote on the amendment received widespread press coverage in more than 40 papers nationwide. Click here to see one of the Associated Press stories:

Thank you, as always, for your efforts to help stop gun death and injury.
Morons.
Good lord. Are they still peddling that garbage?
They're coming to take them away, ha-ha!
They're coming to take them away!
Then GIVE them to them...BULLETS FIRST!!!
You can buy a Serbu for a lot less.
Note that none of these so-called news stories contain information on crimes committed with fifties.
That's because there haven't been any.
That's like two foxes trying to decide the best recipe for BBQ'd chicken.
I already have a single-shot .50 (present from the hubby). I'd like a semi-auto.
Sometimes I really wonder about these anti-gunners. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't hordes of people go out and buy a gun whenever some new anti-gun legislation comes up? I secrety wonder if the VPC is not working sub-rosa for the gun mfg's. If this keeps up, I'm not going to have any room in my refrigerator for food.
no can do in n.j...gotta get outta here...
Oh yes, serious indeed...
We should boycott and initate a class action lawsuit against Acme on behalf of Wile E. Coyote and other cartoon characters. They irresponsibly sell these assault weights to anyone.
Maybe Dateline will rig the gun to explode....like they did the gas tank on the Pinto. Or perhaps they'll just run the Zapruder film. Or perhaps show a picture of kids with Super Squirters, and then flash to video of Gary Gilmore's execution. We already know what the staff at Dateline is, now we're just haggling over the price.
Heh! I heard that! All the above prolly.
Serbu's got one in the works if it's not out already.
for about a third of what a Barrett will run you.
Can I come play at your house?
: ^ )
They treat this like its a easy to carry easy to fire rifle that any one can use and be highly accurate with. DUH!
"That board with a nail in it may have defeated us today, but the humans won't stop there. They'll build bigger boards with bigger nails and soon they'll build a board with a nail in it so big it will destroy them all!! Ha ha ha ha....."
On a related note - How does VPC get all their funding and facetime?? It's not like they have a lot of members.
