In my opinion the Michelin teams could have added air to the tire and made other chasis adjustment to make them safe.
classless behavior...sounds like an American stock car series.
This is is a race to tape. Unbelievable!
nice...
they have just killed F1 in america then. There was absolutely NO buzz on this race when compared to the Indy 500....
Seems Iny 500 speedway will have some lawsuits against these teams for economic damages for not racing.
F1's been declining for years, since they went all NASCAR and started limiting the technology used in the cars.
They deleted the ABS, crashes went up. They deleted traction control, crashes went up. They made everyone race on old tires, crashes... well, you get the idea.
whatever, I will get whatever tires I want, French or not.
It looks like they had legit safety concerns and I can respect that.
besides according to ESPN.com, 9 of the 10 teams there AGREED to the proposed changes, but Ferrari did not.
They should have at least compromised for the sake of the fans - i.e Build the chicane but not score points.
The pinnacle of motor sport reduced to farce. Shameful. The US Grand Prix is a huge race on the calendar, makes F1 look like a joke to the average US fan. In some respects, it is.
Honey, we conveniently tire shopped right after the French snubbed our noses over Iraq.
We're still boycotting the Frogs.
So much for the "Danika" factor, this type of racing will be right back to Square One.
Crashes are good for business, apparently. Ecclestone loves the $, not the sport.
Indianapolis, Indiana - The seven Formula One teams supplied by Michelin pulled out of the US Grand Prix over tyre concerns after a warm-up lap, leaving only Ferrari, Mindardi, and Jordan to contest the race.
All 20 cars had formed up on the grid after a morning of confusion saw the International Automobile Federation (FIA) deny a request for circuit or rule changes to ease Michelin's tyre safety worries.
They just announced that the replacement tires have the same flaw as the tires they are running. I can't believe I'm watching this!
---they have just killed F1 in america then---
Better than killing their drivers.
There are a total of 20 cars in race so I would assume there are still 14 cars in the running...I checked out the Indy website www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com My son was invited to the race it is a beautiful day here in Indy so it should be a great time at the track....
why? tickets have been sold. speedway loses no money on this race.
FIA has had a positive bias toward ferrari for a long time now, evidenced in all the wrangling by all the teams over rules changes (most of which favor ferrari's infinite money supply) and FIA has steadfastly maintained a pro-ferrari position. This had led to the talk about the other teams (ALL the other teams - NOT just the Michelin-shod ones) branching-off to their OWN series after the Concorde expires (2007?).
Six (6) cars are in the race.
