PLANO – The Ismaili Muslim community announced Tuesday that it is building a $6.5 million worship and community center in Plano, where it has found a warm welcome.

Gov. Rick Perry flew in to lay the first ceremonial brick for the center's foundation. It was a symbolic gesture since the site for the new center will be a few miles northeast of the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, where the foundation ceremony was held.

The governor, who is friends with the Ismaili Muslims' spiritual leader, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, said he was honored to participate.

"Our culture is enriched and our society strengthened by a diverse mixture of traditions, heritages and faiths," Mr. Perry said. "While differences may exist on the surface, there is a common hope for the future that dwells in the heart of every Texan."

Yes, Gov Perry..Many Texans common hope for the future is that our state does not become infested with Islamic Mosques of any type.

Interesting how I haven't heard about Gov. Perry coming to Plano for this grand occasion.

Perhaps you need to spend more time on FreeRepublic. Posted here last week.

Of course, that was before Carole Keeton McClellan announced she was running.

The Ismaili Muslims are about the only Muslims who ever behave sanely.

"Our culture is enriched and our society strengthened by a diverse mixture of traditions, heritages and faiths," Mr. Perry said.

Prove it. Islam in particular does not "strengthen" any cultures it infiltrates. Time to take of the rose-colored blinders, Mr. Politician.

Yup...I should have run a better search, instead of just running a search on Plano and not finding anything.

Perhaps he could have used those "symbolic" bricks to symbolically stone a woman wearing a skirt, if he wants to endear himself to the psychotic death cultists.

The residents of Plano need to show up en-masse at the site of this proposed international house of hate (IHOH) and let the governor and anyone else concerned be aware that although the structure might be legal by the letter of the law, it will not be allowed to be built, and the residents of Plano will stick together to see that it isn't by whatever means available to them. The powers that be seem to think that islamic terror recruiting centers can be built anywhere with impunity and sentiments and sensibilities of the community be damned. It is time for the will of the people to be asserted over that of the traitorous politicians who want to destroy the US from the inside out.

Sad part is that with the "technology sector" being based partially in Plano and partially in Richardson, there are MANY Muslims, as well as Hindu, Budahist, and others that may very well make a major minority.

Gone are the days of the Christian's (true followers of Christ, not just Christian by name) having a majority voice in the D/FW area.

” It’s so nice that we can be so accomodating of this grand, non-violent, pro-American religion, especially in MY backyard. /sarchasm”

Maybe you should read a bit more about them before condemning them

“At least they’re Ismailis. Ismailis generally have a law-abiding, enteprenuerial bent, not unlike Jews and Sikhs in some respects. Wahabis consider them to be apostates.”

Didn’t you know that you’re not supposed to say anything positive about muslims on these threads? /s

I think it’s a good move for Perry to befriend a sect that is hated by the Wahhabis.

I thought we were killing them over there before we have to kill them over here. Why are we importing them by the thousands and letting them build “cultural centers” in all our cities if we are killing their brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, parents, etc, etc.

I can predict with certainty that this will not end well.
