Developers and politicians have a long and lucrative history.

This ruling was haphazard at a minimum and sounds almost communist ("for the good of the state, comrade"). I've seen some of these things happening locally, on TV, and it's bad in many of the cases. They should have to compensate the owners at least double or triple the taxed market value amount of the land and property. I don't know if I even like that. There's gotta be a better way to deal with this issue.I'm just left sadly shaking my head at this foolishness... CFR was bad enough. The fact that property taxes mean you really don't own your own land, but rather, rent it, is awful, too.
I'm left pondering something I read in A.E. VanVogt's "The Weapons Shops of Ishir" many years ago: "People get the kind of government they deserve..."

Darn, party's over.
Guess I'll just have breakfast. Got some cantelope and smoked antelope.

In their next asinine decision, the SCOTUS will rule that the UN also has a right to forfeiture...uh, I mean "eminent domain"...well, whatever it means to take our stuff, sell it, and tax the hell out of the next owner.

The vultures are already circling.

Thanks for the early morning laughs.
To: Paleo Conservative
yes, but what does that do to give the UN any say in how local Governments should decide these issues?

Please try to stick with the facts as we know them today. What they might decide in the future only clouds this discussion

Agreed.
I would have added Roe v. Wade, embryonic stem cell research, privitizing Social Security, and gay marriage, but that is a great short list.
Are we Communists? Do we live by a moral standard? Do we not live by a Constitution ratified by our state? Do we not have states' rights? Or do we just trust that the government will sort it all out?
This has been an unreal day.
