Cruise, Lauer argue on 'Today'

'Worlds' star: 'You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do' NEW YORK (AP) -- Let the cynics talk. Tom Cruise is in love -- and he just can't restrain himself.

"You know what? There's always cynics. There always has been. There always will be," said Cruise, who hasn't been shy about displaying his affection for "Batman Begins" actress Katie Holmes. "I have never worried ... about what other people think and what other people say."

Cruise, 42, and Holmes, 26, went public with their romance in April, smooching and posing for photographers in Rome. They recently became engaged.

Many have doubted the romance -- the words "publicity stunt" have rained down on the couple as Cruise has promoted his new film, "War of the Worlds," directed by Steven Spielberg, which opens on June 29.

Well, maybe if he'd stop talking about it on The Today Show, The Tonight Show, David Letterman, et al, people would stop calling it a "publicity stunt."

Well, not to worry. Had Hannity's radio show on while I was preparing dinner. Sean agrees with Cruise.

He has Scientology friends and thinks we rely too much on drugs.

Bet you didn't know tht Sean had an M.D. too. But he did say he discussed it with his wife. Who knew his wife was an M.D. too.

I've never watched the whole 'Born on the Fourth July' movie.

After watching the left broil our young men in the service, I just wasn't interested.

I did watch enough of it to see where it was headed. That was a direction I just wasn't inclined to go, with it.

It seemed to me they were trying to show the metamorphasis of the Kovik character from gung ho patriot, to burnt out hater of the military that did this to him.

Perhaps this appealed to others. Perhaps I've skewed what the movie was all about. I just couldn't sit through it.

Thanks for the comments.

""You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do," Cruise said.

The interview became more heated when Lauer, who said he knew people who had been helped by the attention-deficit disorder drug Ritalin, asked Cruise about the effects of the drug.

"Matt, Matt, you don't even -- you're glib," Cruise responded. "You don't even know what Ritalin is. If you start talking about chemical imbalance, you have to evaluate and read the research papers on how they came up with these theories, Matt, OK. That's what I've done."

Tom, Tom, your a pompous ass. You read a pamphlet or 2, and think your an expert. You denigrate someone, because you think you're more knowledgable than they are, though you have no idea what knowledge they have.

I'm in no way a Matt Lauer fan, and someone finally gave back what he dishes out. But Tom Cruise is nothing short (well he is short, but...) of a huge ASS. He's acting worse than a 12 year old about Katie. What 42 year old acts like that. Let alone what self respecting man. Other than maybe Michael Jackson or some fruit in a bath house. Oh wait I said self respecting man. Nevermind.

And Tom Cruise is a high paid actor. This is the worst acting job ever. Katie has been nothing but a low grade actress until now. She'll get married with a prenup, promising X amount of $$$, and Tom will pull all sorts of strings to propel her carrier. Much like what happened to Nicole.

The fact that Katie is going along with this, tells me alot about her. I have no respect for her. Don't get me wrong, I still think she's hot enough to melt paint off a car at 20 yds. But thats just looks. I'm 42 and have known enough women with looks. Looks are fine, but looks without brains AND personality are a waste. And Katie is a waste.

I do my best to avoid the People's Republic of Couric.

But the Today Show is watched by Everybody.
And I'm sure many of TC's female fans are also fans of Lauer. I'm guessing he's lost more than a few of those fans.

So he's pissing off his fans, his MSM compatriots, even Spielberg. I'm sure the Hollywood grapevine is bursting about him, and he doesn't like people talking about him, even worse, making FUN of him. I expect he's only going to get worse.

Have our national court jesters, the Late Night comedians, been using him for fodder lately? That would make TC's joke status official.

CNN was going to show a replay of today's appearance by Cruise but then the news broke that the three little boys from New Jersey were found dead and I'm not sure they will go back to this story about Cruise.

He was really telling Matt Lauer off talking to him like Matt was some inept low life...

Inept low life is the perfect description of Lauer.
