You're certainly entitled to your opinion. But IMO there's a huge difference, both morally and pragmatically, between Waco and this current situation. At Waco, you had a group of cultists who basically allowed their children to burn to death (and no, I don't support what Reno did either). In Connecticut and elsewhere, you have government tyranny targeted at normal innocent citizens. In the latter case, the use of force in self defense seems quite appropriate, regardless of how much it might hurt my family and me.
But even if one chooses not to die on that hill, there is no reason in the world for citizens to refrain from sabotage after the fact. That office building should never be allowed to be build, let alone opened.
Well, gee, thanks for allowing me that! :-P

Your modus ponens glitches aside, do you hear yourself? The rights of some citizens deserve protection, others don't, the government can decide by force? If you don't protect the wierdos' rights, then it's just a matter of labeling the wierdos that are inconvenient for the government for the witch hunt.
You look at China 'registering' web sites there and you'll see the end result of that attitude. Falun Gong, Branch Davidians, Jews, Bloggers, FR posters starting with Z....
I hear myself. And I'm really very happy with what I hear.
Was there not a warrant for the arrest of the leader of the Branch Davidians? Did lawful athorities not have the right to check on the health and well being of children living in what was obviously a cult situation?
I'm pretty sure the anser is yes to both of these. Moreover, I'm pretty sure that the feds weren't going after the BDs to take their land to build a shopping center. I thus view the two situations as completely different. I'll gladly support the use of force to defend people's homes against undue government seizure, but I wouldn't lift a finger for the Waco cultists.
If you disagree, fine. But my position is rational and as clear as a bell.
You might want to actually KNOW the answers to those questions, zook. Some research into the actual facts now might leave you a little less sure of yourself.
You are one clever fellow. "Plonk."
Thanks for the input. I just may write to Senator White and determine his stance on the issue.
I would love to hear what he has to say. I wrote to Costa, who has not responded. However, the P-G reporter actually wrote back and said he would be keeping the heat on this issue as the new city government comes in.
The government and Pfizer have teamed up again! The City of New London (and the Supreme Court)screwed up... somewhere along the way. Its up to the citizenry to find the law they over-looked, that will turn this around.
