Lawmaker's Wayward E-Mail Refers To Constituents As 'Idiots'

POSTED: 10:28 am EDT June 29, 2005 UPDATED: 10:50 am EDT June 29, 2005

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A New York state lawmaker says he's embarrassed, after he mistakenly sent out an e-mail message that referred to his

Assemblyman Willis Stephens says he thought he was sending the e-mail to an aide. Instead, he sent the note to nearly 300 people on an online discussion group that focuses on the community of Brewster.

The message included the comment that he was "just watching the idiots pontificate."

Within an hour of sending the message Monday morning, Stephens sent another e-mail apologizing for the slip-up.

Stephens, a Republican, represents an area north of New York City. Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.

Yup.

And I've never seen much evidence that elected officials are any smarter than , say, the sales manager at the local Hyundai dealership.

"Stephens, a Republican, represents an area north of New York City."

And I'm sure the people will blindly continue to vote for the R in front of her name.

He didn't even apologize for calling his constituents idiots, he just apologized that they found out what he thinks of them. Even having not mastered the art of the email, he still thinks his constituents are so stupid that this kind of apology will work.

It's a HE.

And over a Democrat, I probably would too although I'd vote him out in the primary if possible.

It's been on the radio already in MA. The rabid left and their paramours in the MSM never skip a beat.

Also, check out this item in today's Post:
...Acknowledging his brutal assessments -- his survey left few untrashed -- he warned the embassy that "if ANY of this Report is seen by ANY one outside of the embassy, its humble author is going to have to receive political asylum."
Alas. Nelson, instead of sending the 22-page analysis to the Korean Embassy, hit his list for Nelson Report subscribers, administration officials, Hill folks, think tankers, media types and others -- more than 800 people, including many of whom he had skewered or identified as people who talk to him. So it's most unclear who would offer asylum....

He is a RINO, but the people he is referring to are the conservatives in his district.

Only Dems are worse than RINOs. If he had a lick of sense he would have sent a follow up that said. "I was talking about Durbin and Kennedy in reference to their comments on the War on Terrorism."

Stephens, a Republican, used to represent an area north of New York City.

What it will be after the next election.
