TECUMSEH - Former Tecumseh resident Jill Renée LaRocque, 22, was remembered as an overachiever and "good kid" by local relatives and friends, who expressed shock at her apparent murder Sunday by her fiance, a fellow Security Forces Airman.

"She was so proud to serve in the Air Force," said her mother Deb LaRock of Tecumseh. "During basic training she hurt her ankles and was worried she'd have to leave. Several of us prayed, and her ankles got her through and she was strong.

"She pushed herself as much as she could to achieve that."

LaRocque, an Airman First Class, was killed at a hotel in Great Falls, Mont., near Malmstrom Air Force Base where she was stationed, according to Associated Press reports.

John David Trotter, 19, of Texas was charged Monday with one count of deliberate homicide and a felony count of tampering with physical evidence. According to a story in today's Great Falls Tribune, Trotter told authorities he had choked LaRocque, causing her death.

"As the time goes by I get more and more angry. It was such a waste," said her father, Jacques LaRocque of Manchester.

Absolutely horrible. Prayers to her family, and may she rest in peace.
