I was thinking in terms of the natives being shark repellent of and by themselves

There are very, very few native Floridians left. What the sharks didn't get, the Yankee migration did.

The shark bait is his dog, Mystic Warrior, kind of a benji looking mutt who accompanies him and swims around in his own life jacket. There's a picture of him tearing up a bluefish, I'll try and find it.

This is at least a mile offshore. The dog is to the right. This guy uses 8' fence posts for his rod holders.

It was a dogfish shark the dog was playing with not a bluefish.

What a great dog--truly man's best friend! 8' fence posts--that's serious fishing material. Thanks for posting the pics.

"The man was bitten near the lighthouse"

Reminds me of the old joke about the women playing golf, and one gets badly stung by a wasp... they go to the doctor, who asks "where were you stung?" To which the woman said "between the first and second holes." Doctor says "my, you must have an awfully wide stance."

I might get nailed by a sand shark....

I was snorkeling with a friend of mine and we spotted a sand shark. My friend thought that it would be funny to pull it's tail. The shark was not amused. It launched straight at his face with it's mouth wide open, but turned at the last minute. Then it settled itself back down in the sand. Needless to say, my idiot friend didn't pull it's tail after that.

Not the brightest bulb in the string huh?
Just remember you don't have to out swim the shark....you do have to out swim your friend! LOL!

When I was a teenager I used to surf in north Florida (east side)...Mostly sat chatting with buds and dangling the feet in the water. Sharks would come by from time to time.

I was a frikken idiot.

Nowadays I don't take bathes...only showers.

Nope. I was in the Navy at the time, in Pensacola, Fla. I'm from near Seattle, he was from Ohio. Until that exact moment, I don't think that he realized that some fish have TEETH. Believe me, he got a real good look at them. LOL.
