Web page reveals addresses of campaign donors. (this sux!)
http://www.fundrace.org/neighbors.php ^

Posted on 07/01/2005 1:24:47 PM PDT by Names Ash Housewares

Can they do this? I am not thrilled that my home address and place of employment appears now from a simple google search because of this web page....

http://www.fundrace.org/neighbors.php

I know we must keep track of who contributes to campaigns but zip code should be enough. Not the home address! They have ignored my emails thus far.

So, I cant participate in democracy by donating to republican candidates without losing a level of personal security?

This sux.

So do I have to come up with a special PO box or something to contribute?

I don't want to participate in a democracy.

Democracy = mob rule, and produces things like elimination of eminent domain restrictions.

Thanks. Just looked up my zipcode and now I know who not to give money to IE DOCTORS DENTISTS STORES etc.

As for yourself.... its all the fault of the PATRIOT ACT...(sarc off.)

Seriously is your phone number public?
I'm just wondering why this would bother you so much.

Do what I do: lie. If 10-20 million illegals can live here without a problem, is anyone really going to check that my address on a campaign donation is accurate? I don't think so. If you fear discovery anyway, transpose some of the street numbers and plead dsylexia if anyone ever questions it.

Full disclosure was the law long before McCain/Feingold.

Yup. My son saw exactly how much of his inheritance I donated to the Republican Party last year.

It's nothing new. Federal campaign laws have long required it. Of course, if you donate chump change like me, your name won't come up at all on most reports, lists or searches.

You can bet that a sharp campaign will be checking the donor lists of their election opponent, and if they find fake addresses, it's not going to look good for the side you donated to.

I never realized there were so many Michael Moores in America. At least they didn't all donate to the Kerry/silky pony campaign.

Weird! I gave money several times in 2004 and I'm not listed at all.

I did contribute chump change. Like $75. Not like thousands and thousands. Chump change is relative of course.

If you own your home, you've got another problem. Your county registrar probably publishes the property records online. All somebody has to do is enter your name and they'll get your address. About the only way around this is to create a trust (DON'T use your name as part of the trust name), and buy a new house under the trust name. It wouldn't help to place the existing house in the trust because the old records would still reveal that you resided there.

Yeah I put in my last name and was disappointed at how many were blue. At least the Reds were at the top of the list.
