Status of the "Hotel Lost Liberty" project
Freestar Media LLC ^

Status of the "Hotel Lost Liberty" project This is a real project. To help the potential financial supporters understand where we our in the process a rough outline appears below. This will be revised as needed. Our ability to proceed can be improved with your financial support.

1. Ask the Town of Weare, N.H. what process must be followed to gain approvals to build a hotel.

2. Obtain plot maps and descriptions of the subject property.

3. Establish an escrow account to receive funds to support pre-approval work and funds to support post approval needs (construction and operating capital).

4. Establish a seperate legal entity to carry the project forward and receive the escrow funds.

5. Raise enough financing to support pre-approval work.

6. Create preliminary designs, gather information to support the economic viability of the project and find a company that built several successful hotels to oversee the project.

7. Make a formal presentation of our proposal to the Town of Weare.

8. If property is approved for seizure, and hotel is approved for construction, raise enough funding to build and operate the hotel.

9. Auction off the chance to drive the bulldozer.

10. Build it.

How you can participate (more fun, for real!): 1. Are you a powerful and famous radio talk show host?

The "Room-Fit-For-A-Host Prize" will go to that radio talk show host that causes his or her listeners to pony up the largest sum toward the hotel's construction cost. This will be accomplished by asking each investor which radio talk show host motivated him or her to invest. The honeymoon suite will be named after the winning radio talk show host and that host will be allowed to choose the books and decorations in the room (within our budget). Four runners-up will have regular hotel rooms named after them and also be allowed to choose the books, decorations and furniture in these rooms (within our budget). The radio talk show host that finishes last will have the bathroom adjoining the restaurant named after him or her.

Imagine if your favorite host wins! What decorations might be found in the "Rush Room"? Which books might appear in the "Larry Elder Room"? What creature comforts might be enjoyed in the Bill O'Reilly Room? Do we dare to think what the "Howard Stern Room" might look like? Who will win? How will they decorate? The world awaits with baited breath...and a new reality show is born!

This contest is open to all radio talk show hosts. We will announce which radio talk show hosts step into the ring as it happens...

2. What should we serve in the Just Deserts Cafe* (the hotel restaurant)?

We have received some creative suggestions: Chicken Seizure Salad, Souter Soup, Goose and Gander Sautee. And for dessert Logan's original item...Crow Pie. But we need more to complete our menu. Send your ideas to "menu@freestarmedia.com". Include the name of your menu suggestion in the subject line.

*Name changed to clarify what we are really serving.

"Excuse me sir, but I've been asked to escort all defeatists out of this room. Now if you will come with me please."

There's a big difference between a "deafists" and a "realist." Unfortunately many on this forum do not recognize the difference. As a former Selectman, Town Moderator, School Board Member and State Rep in a small community located near Weare , New Hampshire I understand New Hampshire politics and New Hampshire citizens. I personally know 4 of the 5 selectmen of Weare. Can you say the same? These people "protect" their townspeople whether it be a question of local taxes or the issue of eminent domain. These people firmly believe in the preservation of their community. They don't take kindly to "outsiders" trying to change local traditions.

Being vindictive in politics gets you exactly nothing and in this case it makes makes "conservatives" look like fools. If you wish to look the fool simply jump on the bandwagon.

Look, I’m fairly sure that this project isn’t going anywhere, but … thanks to the Supremes, it could. And that’s the point of pursuing it. Souter’s house is probably in no danger, but thanks to the Supremes, other people’s homes are.

The issue is this: are the rich and the powerful to be sheltered by “realists” from the folly of their own design? With enough resources, the need for more tax revenue in Ware can be found. There must be blight somewhere in Ware. Recalcitrant selectmen who are so corrupt as to not remove the blight in Ware can be replaced. See how the issue can be framed? It’s the good old boys protecting one of their own against the reformers seeking a better future for Ware. I can see the slogans now. Ah, it could be a grand fight. But it does take some imagination, some courage, the resources and the dogged determination to carry it through all of the “realists” who know the status quo.

Hillsborough, Wal-Mart in traffic jam
By TODD MORRISON

HILLSBOROUGH — Significant differences continue to exist between town regulators and Wal-Mart representatives over how best to handle the retailer's impact on local traffic and what it should pay.

As a conservative liberatarian, I believe there is nothing foolish in seeking justice, poetic or otherwise, for wrongs committed by politicians or for unconstitutional decisions made by lifetime-tenured judges. There is nothing like a grass roots show of reactive force...in expressed contempt or in rebellion. Often times vindictiveness teaches a good lesson...that's reality. (Purpleland lives in NH too.)

"Often times vindictiveness teaches a good lesson."

Seems like a pretty crappy attitude. That's the problem with this world and it's apparent you're a contributor.

***Since we are both residents in NH, I hope you'll have the opportunity to tell me to my face about my "attitude" and how it affects the world. As a town politician you probably have good cause to be offensively defensive.

For what it's worth, I'm 100% in favor of the whole plan. Unfortunately, that's about as much support as my empty wallet allows.

The logical fact remains that Souter should live by the injustice that he helped to promote. And if he's a man (which I have my doubts) he should either acknowledge his error in judgment and correct it or pack his bags and move to the socialist country of his choosing.

Sounds like the propaganda used to try to convince gun-owners to not offend anyone and to keep quiet while gun-control laws and court cases usurped the Second Amendment.

Oh, if only they'd consulted you first.

Words from a typical democrat...if you don't have a valid argument you resort to name calling. So, so sad.

Met Bill and Hillary back in the mid 80's. Didn't like them then and maintain the feeling today.
