God Bless the USA! Happy Birthday Eve America!!!!!
I'm still on vacation. Using my sister's slow pc. Will not be able to reply much today. Looks like the pending SCOTUS nomination is the topic this Sunday. Enjoy!!!!
Thanks for the thread...Plugs, Leaky and Hagel..oh, my!
Meet the Press certainly has a "balanced" lineup. LOL
Duncan Hunter is going to be the sole sane voice on that panel.
The usual suspects are back this week. Hope you are having a
Isn't it nice of the Peacock channel to present both sides of the SCOTUS battle...Liberal Democrats and RINO Liberal Republicans.

Supreme Court Vacancy
C-SPAN, Washington Journal
Elliot Mincberg , People for the American Way
Wendy Long , Judicial Confirmation Network
Darn it, I'll be on the road, and will miss what might be shaping up as the most hilarious line-up of idiots ever fielded for a Sunday.
Hope all FReepers have a safe and patriotic holiday weekend, and remember our president and our troops.
"We expect the President to obey the Constitution and solicit the advice of Senators from both parties (blah blah blah) in order to choose a Supreme Court Justice who is in the mainstream (blah blah blah) and not an extremist like Scalia or Thomas (blah blah blah.)"
Okay, I just saved you three hours of your life. Go have a catch with your kids, light the barbecue or read a book. You won't hear anything but the talking points from the lefties (for a change.)
Oh My .. Looks like Bush Bash Fest on MTP
Thanks for the Thread, Alas Babylon!

White House Travel, Domestic Trip
George W. Bush , United States
It is "abuse of power" for the president to pick whomever he pleases to fill the Supreme Court position. Will also attempt to further redefine "advise and consent".
Republicans don't have the right people out there today for this. Incredulity should be the Republican response of the day. Since when is it an abuse of power for the president to carry out his constitutional responsibility?
Our Independence is dependent upon the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. I salute and thank them for allowing American to celebrate its 229th birthday.
With Republican majorities in the House, Senate, governorships and the Presidency, Senator Kennedy will declaim as his "BS de Resistance" that Americans want Supreme Court justices who are mainstream libs.
Mrs Greenspan is hosting MTP instead of Timmy
Another reason to avoid MTP...Andrea Mitchell. Ugh.
I was thinking the same thing. MTP gets to say it had balance since it has (R)s as guests, but is it really fair and balanced when the (R)s are RINOs?
thanks for the heads up
Arlen says that he and Leahy have plans for a professional process but if there's a fight, they are both ready for it.
I'm off TV / Cable / political talk until the whole Supreme Show is over. I can NOT stand the 'Rat rants anymore. If I want to hear remarks about how horrible the US is, I can turn to two places: the 'RATs on the tube or the terrorists on Al Jazeera. I'm interested in neither. It upsets and hurts me when I hear people who've benefitted from the freedom and
wealth of our country, trying to destroy it for their own power meglamania. I wish we had a channel which weren't 'fair and balanced' but rather limited itself to those who love the USA so that I could view it. Until that is available, I'm netflixing and reading only.
Add my thanks too, AB. MTP might be good as Hunter takes the others on but FNS will probably remain the best to watch.
Leahy wants a nominee who will "unite" the country (dem talking point). Now what does that mean? Since when is that the job of a supreme court justice.
Oh, and WAR EAGLE!
Bwahahaha, they are both furious at the "groups." Look, people, we are Senators and hence the smartest guys around. We know what we are doing. Just shut up until it's time to come out and vote FOR US.
Leahy is setting this up for a filibuster. Not good to have a Justice who only gets 51 votes. Doesn't want extreme right or left. How about Buzzy Ginsberg???
Oh, Fox and Friends talking about the Karl Rove flap.
Like Rush reminding Republicans, "Bush won you majority status, You are in majority & Behave and act like it".
This is the best comment I've heard yet. Uniting the country is the Democarts mantra, while they are trying to destroy it.
Where in the US does Arlen Spector
hail from? His accent is weird....almost sounds southern.
I am beginning to wonder if there isn't a group of stealth Rats fomenting the idea that Gonzalez isn't conservative. Seems to me that anyone who worked as closely with the President on the issues of theWOT would not be a leftist.
Also, there is a fair amount of anti-Hispanic feeling on both sides, whicih is contributing to this controversy, IMHO.
I don't think Gonzalez will be the nominee, however. If he were, he would be called to recuse himself from any decisions in which he had participated as Counsel or AG. In addition, I don't think the President wants to face both a fight for the Supreme Court AND a fight for a new AG. If he were considering putting Gonzalez in the SC, I don't think the President would have nominated him to the AG position.
Thanks for the posting. Apparently our Denver NBC channel doesn't have it scheduled for airing. (Probably low ratings and they are showing something else.)
Abraham Lincoln "united" the country once.
There is the set up for asking how they'll rule on Roe and any other inappropriate question they can think of. Anybody there to represent dead babies? I think the best the dems have right now is to get a stealth candidate like Kennedy who can be wooed by the left. I don't think the President is going to give it to them. Why should he care if they all choose to shoot themselves in the foot? And about holding up the rights of the people, what about the right not to have your property taken for a "private" purpose.
I assume he means "unite the Libs" because all of his favorites have p--ssed off the rest of us. He looks like the "Ancient Mariner" and rather disheveled lately like Kennedy. I do not know why Russert and Co always want to talk to someone who is so incoherent.
Andrea Mitchell makes me miss Tim Russert. What a blatant liberal hack! She prefaces a question about interest groups already gearing up, and you assume for sure she'd talk about the left-wing groups and their mouthpiece, Ted Kennedy. Instead, the only reference she makes is to a conservative group, and holds up today's NY Times, echoing its point about such groups gearing up to support a conservative nominee and opposing Gonzales.
Then she virtually pleads with Leahy to support a filibuster should W nominate "a hard-liner," meaning presumably someone who supports the original intent of the Framers.
Hmmmm .. Senator Nit Wit .. they aren't running for President
That's an excellent quote Anita.
It's beyond me why we act like we have little to do with the situation. Of course our RINO attacks help little, but Rush is right again.
We are in the majority, lets act like it for a change!! The hell with PC isms.
Funny, I had exactly the same reaction. Pennsylvania, I said to myself. Oh, lordy, Andrea says in his speech the President tried to tie Iraq to 9/11.
According the latest PEW poll(!), majority of Ameiricans believe media is UNPATRIOTIC. The hosts of the Sunday talk shows deserve maximum credit for that.
Penn I think.
Mornin, Miss Marple. FOX & Friends had a woman (Kay Daly) on saying there should not be any litmus test, and nominees for SCOTUS isn't the place to play politics. I hope Republican Senators take that response to heart and expose Democrats when they do it.
I agree it will not be Gonzales - I suspect O'Connor's replacement to be a virtual unknown to the population - certainly not on the currnt list of the "usual suspects" ; )
MSNBC will run it at Midnight MDT
