It's happened. Just this morning. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor has announced her retirement. Throughout her tenure, Justice O'Connor has been part of the razor-thin majority that has kept Roe v. Wade from being dismantled.

Now, for the first time in over a decade, there's a vacancy on the Supreme Court. And unless we act quickly, it will be filled by a right-wing extremist bent on ending a woman's right to choose.

We knew a retirement was coming, but if you're like me, today's announcement still came as a shock. Yes, this is a long weekend, but the next few weeks will be even longer as we gear up for a battle that for many of us is one of the most critical we've faced in our lifetimes.

Take a deep breath, and then get ready to win this fight. Let's tell the Bush administration: we want a Supreme Court Justice who will uphold Roe v. Wade - the law of the land.

The news of Justice O'Connor's retirement from the Supreme Court has sent a shudder through the pro-choice community.

And right now, only hours after O'Connor's retirement, anti-choice forces are at work to ensure President Bush nominates the most conservative candidate he can find to replace her.

Take action: send a message, and then spread the word to all of your friends: the battle for the Supreme Court starts today. We can't let Bush's choice be the end of ours!

Thank you for standing up for women's rights,

This email was apprently sent in error but this is what is going out.

It also explains why the sunday morning talk shows are in overdrive to push Gonzalez. I just hope GWBush makes a choice reflecting his promise rather than political expedience.

It's interesting how the Liberals are willing to toss their "terror memo" script out the window and push for Gonzalez. It goes to show that Liberals don't actually believe their own talking points. They just use whatever is at hand to undermine (they hope) America's interests.

Liberals can't tell the truth, since they know none of their positions commands majority support among Americans, so neither logic nor facts are available to them in their assertions. They're reduced to following the trial lawyer's advice: if the facts don't support your case, argue from emotion.
