Col. David Hunt was on Fox via phone just as this was breaking. He said the group had been attacked and went into the mode (sorry can't remember what he called it) where they separate and try to get to a recovery area.

Separate and avoid contact.
Under fire it is a good strategy.
I did not know they were under immediate ground fire after the impact. Bet they got a few kills if they were still capable.

I did not know they were under immediate ground fire after the impact. Bet they got a few kills if they were still capable. I think you are confusing those in the down QRF (MH47) with the SEAL Recon Team that is still "missing" - (of which one has now been recovered, alive! - Thank God)

It is the Fourth of July here in my hometown...?
Still nursing the Glenlivet the wife got me yesterday to get me off this box...
I'm waiting to see what she offers today to lure me away. I have no doubt that I am likely confused. And those men on the ground in hell today are risking their very being to make this all possible, for me and millions of others. It is not likely possible that we can repay those men and women and their families for their courage and strength.

I am very happy to see this thread. I enjoy thanking every vet & military person I can identify. I have been lucky enough to meet many WW2 vets in my area & I always enjoy talking to them.
