Outstanding!
LMAO
Post of the week!!!
Thanks for looking- it makes me smile, just to watch those pictures.
Kudos to them for a job well done. Pretty neat "fireworks" for the 4th.
Not my own answer, a paraphrase of a smart guy in the field.
I'll get the name for proper credit later today, if my husband, who read it to me a year ago, remembers who said it.
If we have the technology to hit this thing, then play around it for a while taking pictures, I imagine the knowledge will help us hit other things rather reliably. The people who worked on this are also experts in satellites, both weather and military. We're going to get better satellites out of this deal, and probably other apps.
And I think you have a perfect right to ask. I don't happen to think we oughta be spending any more on shuttle rides, but the riders don't agree with me. They have to ride, and thereby gain that orbital sancification.
Of course, we'll also get nimrods nattering about the Origins Of It All--speculating wildly about the religious habits of single-cell Saturnians. But we'll still get a better satellite.
I wonder if NASA got an environmental impact statement, sought approval from the UN and EU, checked with Koran scholars to see if impacting a comet was offensive to Muslims, asked Jesse Jackson what he thought and checked to see if comet impacts were a violation of the Kyoto Accords?
And like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
secretly giddy?
lol
On the live feeds, one NASA guy was heard to say words to the effect: 'I can't believe we're getting paid to have this much fun.'
NASA even had to corral them and tell them to get back to work.
Some were so giddy that they could hardly talk during the after-commentaries.
I think this was all "faked" just like that "man on the moon thing" a few years back. Looks like a big potato to me.
(For those about to flame me, I'm only joking)
