I think I remember the exact case you are talking about. From what I recall, the woman was in her mid 40's. Her and her husband were interviewed on a program like 60 minutes. The husband was all for her dying. I don't remember him saying one word to discourage her from dying.

As I watched that show, I felt the wife was looking for some support from her husband. I believe she wanted him to say - I don't want you to die. But instead, he was all for the decision of death. She was probably despressed due to the pain of her disease. I blame the husband as much as Kevorkian. I've read studies that show, most who opt for death, do so because they feel they are burden to their family. I doubt she really wanted to die. Instead, I feel she wanted her so called husband to tell her he loved her and wanted her to live.

In Terri's case, her parents were called selfish and worse because they wanted to take care of their daughter and wanted her to live. It's like the world has been turned upside down.

Notes on verses above:
18 "Sew cushions"... Viz., by making people easy in their sins, and promising them impunity.

18 "They gave life to their souls"... That is, they flattered them with promises of life, peace, and security.

19 "Violated me"... That is, dishonoured and discredited me.

19 "To kill souls"... That is, to sentence souls to death, which are not to die; and to promise life to them who are not to live.

21 And I will tear your pillows, and will deliver my people out of your hand, neither shall they be any more in your hands to be a prey: and you shall know that I am the Lord. 22 Because with lies you have made the heart of the just to mourn, whom I have not made sorrowful: and have strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his evil way, and live. 23 Therefore you shall not see vain things, nor divine divinations any more, and I will deliver my people out of your hand: and you shall know that I am the Lord.
