Hillary Clinton's Olympic Failure

2008 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton has failed in her first major foreign initiative - a high profile bid to bring the 2012 Olympic games to New York City.
Hours before this morning's announcement that London would host the 2012 games, Clinton was pulling out all the stops to bring the sports extravaganza to her constituents back home.
Mrs. Clinton told reporters in Singapore, where the Olympic committee was meeting, that the Big Apple "exemplifies Olympic values every single day. Living in New York is like living in an Olympic Village - you have every language from every corner of the globe."
While New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg headed up the U.S. delegation, and former boxing great Muhammad Ali joined in the effort - it was Mrs. Clinton, whose global popularity has been heralded in the world's media, who was the clear star of the U.S. team.
In comments to the Associated Press, she noted that the Summer Games have never been held in New York.
"We have lived the Olympics, now I'd like for us to have a chance to host the Olympics," she said.
In arguments before the committee, the former first lady even invoked the specter of the 9/11 attacks:
"We're standing here a little less than four years from the time when we were attacked and we're telling you that New York City is the place to bring the 2012 Olympics because people of New York are resilient," she insisted. "They're extraordinary in their capacity to pull together and plan for the future."
Before this morning's announcement, the AP called Mrs. Clinton "the top political heavyweight for New York's [Olympic] delegation."
But now that she's failed to come through, don't look for the press to spend much time dwelling on what went wrong.

Believe me I was extremely HAPPY that NYC DID NOT win the bid just because Hillary made this a Huge photo-op and the MSM bragged about how popular she is in Europe - WELL HILLARY - I GUESS YOU ARE NOT AS POPULAR AS YOU THOUGHT! Heh Heh!

Watch for Hillary's name to all but disappear from the discussions of this subject in the MSM.

And what a brilliant argument she had. "New York is a magnet for terrorism. Therefore, we should have a high-profile event with many soft targets in a concentrated area." /sarcasm

Watch for Hillary's name to all but disappear from the discussions of this subject in the MSM. Guess we need to make sure that doesn't happen. Hitlery Rotten Von Der Schlikmeister FAILED to bring the Olympics to New York City.

I'm also happy for the same reason. We'd be bombarded from MSM about how SHE, Queen Hillary, was the one solely responsible for bring the Olympics to New York. She'd probably even campaign with it.

So, it's ok for the thigh master to include 9-11 in her speech, but when President Bush refers to the date the media and the lefties go bananas.
New York would have suffered more than it would have enjoyed from hosting this event. Traffic and hotel space is limited on a normal basis, imagine having to lodge, transport and provide the extra security for the masses that would come.

I am in the NYC area, and like a lot of people I am happy the Olympics are not coming here. I know there's another side to the argument, but I just thought it would be a lot of hassle and a money-loser.
As for Sen Clinton, I cannot for the life of me understand how liberals and feminists can champion this woman for essentially riding her husband's coattails. Supposedly her contacts gained when her husband was President were going to help. If Laura bush tried that the left would be screaming from the rooftops! But there's a lot of criticisms I could raise about Hillary now, aren't there - I don't have all day!
I predict (hope!!!) that Hillary will be like the EU constitution - loved by the elites but rejected by the people once they are asked for their votes. Let's hope the Reopublicans can keep it together and she is thwarted.

Bloomberg, a RINO loser and socialist.
Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay) Muslim America hater, draft dodger and loudmouthed braggart.
Hillary, left wing America hater, socialist and shrill, power mad lesbian bitch and self promoter.
What a team.
The Olympics are not bargain. I still remember the Munich Olympics. What would the Islamofascists have planned for NYC? A nuke?

Most New Yorkers DID NOT WANT the Olympic games. It's hard enough to get around in the city even on a normal day. And where would they have the aquatic events? Way out in the Hamptons? I'm sure the wealthy people out there would have just loved the congestion!

She was hoping to be able to attend and HOST the Olympics as the President of the United States in 2012. This was just a little advance planning on her part,,,,just in case. Oh well, she can now try for the winter Olympics in her long-range Presidential planning.

She should have changed her name to Olympia and claimed she had been named after the Olympics.
Then she could have gone for a walk on a Long Island beach and discovered a set of rings and fashioned them in the shape of the Olympic rings as she bit her lip and shed a tear in memory of her Mother, Hera Rodham, who's dying words were, "The Olympics belong in New York City."

In fairness, it is world wide disdain and jealousy of the USA that finds NYC rejected. Not Hillary Clinton.
