Skip to comments.Anti-War protesters in Kansas City

Anyone interested in counter protesting? Kansas City Freepers should checkout this site. I'm tired of seeing these missguided people go without a counter protest.
Go volunteer at the VA that day instead.
Gee, how about a rally to oppose the possibility of Aliens taking over the planet. Morons.
Try to find a local protest warrior chapter. They are always willing to counter protest.
Gee ya think they could protest something relevant
Like, oh! I don't know - How about the
Bombings in London Today!!
Probably right. I just went to Kinkos and had some Protest Warrior signs made. Itch'in to use'm.
They can't be too well organized. Their website still has an article titled "Let the inspections work."
I live up north of town. My impression of this bunch, based on the little coverage I've seen accorded to them by the local media, is that there's not many of them, and that they're not well received.
I think a counter-protest could actually boost their notoriety. Better to let them remain the unnoticed losers they are.
Understood. The thing to keep in mind is that even minus the war, these douchbags would still be protesting something. It's a lifestyle thing, y'know?
Or the lack of any Life-Style.....
Several of us have countered the peaceniks at the Columbia and Jefferson City Post Offices for years. We know we will never change the minds of the peaceniks across the street from us.
However, IT IS NOT THE PEACENIKS WHOM WE ARE TRYING TO REACH. Speaking for myself, I FReep for two reasons:
First, to counter the peaceniks and let them know that they do not speak for everyone. The media would have us believe that the peaceniks speak for all Americans, and that all Americans protest the war effort, this President, the military and all they do to keep and maintain our freedom. (The media and the "peace movement" is trying to re-live the glory days of the Vietnam War.) By standing against the peace protestors, we let the average Americans who go about their daily lives know that many Americans support freedom, despite what they may see/read/hear in the mainstream media.
Second, as appreciation to the troops and their families for the sacrifices they make in defense of our freedom. Soldiers in Iraq see the media reports; they also see our FReep reports (not just in Missouri, but across the country). I can't tell you the number of times a soldier or a soldier's loved one has come up to us, shaken our hands, and thanked us for being there. In June '04, a lady in Jeff City parked her car across the street, jumped out and ran across the street, and gave me a big bear hug as, with tears in her eyes, she said, "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. My husband is in Iraq right now. Thank you."
In short, if the military personnel can live in the sands 24/7 in defense of our freedom, then I can stand in support of them for one hour, one day per week.
To all the FReepers in Kansas City, go for it! It is fun to get acquainted, fun to annoy the peaceniks, and it is greatly appreciated by most passersby, the troops and their loved ones.
See post 12. Go for it!
Ping you guys. Can you add anything to this?
Or at an airport USO.
Step away from the keyboard and get involved. It is worth it. The DC Chapter proves it every week.
Low volume ping list
FReepmail me to go on, or come off, this list.
jmq is requesting some FReeping help in Kansas City. Anyone interested?
You should have a counter-demonstration. If not, the local media will focus on these "peace" people. Besides, if you're not mad at Al Qaeda now, you never will be.
T'would be a hoot, but hubby's leaving town and I'll have 4 kids all to myself! LOL!!
JH, I'll respectfully disagree with your idea that the anti-war protests should always be ignored. (I do agree with you that there are other ways to help, such as at the VA.)
We tried ignoring war protest during Vietnam, yielding the streets to the leftists. The hate-America leftists won the public relations battle at least partly because conservatives failed to mount a significant peaceful opposition to the left's protests.
Our brave troops' hard-won, military victory in Vietnam was negated by a political defeat because of that loss of the PR battle.
Ignoring the anti-war protests, and giving them an open field in the biased media, is a mistake that we cannot afford to make again.
That's one of many reasons that DC Chapter is opposing the leftists, although we are especially appalled that the Code Pinkos are at Walter Reed Army Hospital trying to exploit our war-wounded for their twisted propaganda purposes. See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1437364/posts
KC area FReepers should peacefully counter the leftists at every possible opportunity.
Outstanding explanation and efforts made by you over the years!

Some just what to stay home a sleep.
At 4:00 PM?
I would say a good number, like myself, have jobs that we can't skip out on. Unlike a bunch of leftist, Burger King hamburger flipping, unwashed, hippy wannabes.
Shootm I had to take 1/2 days vacation to FReep Hitlery when she came to town. And me and my daughter were the only two there!
JAJ, I remember you and your daughter's great double devil FReep of Hillary.
I'm sure that BMW was not referring to you as someone who's sleeping when they should be FReeping.
Oh, I know. I just wanted to state, for the record, that a lot of us conservative/(small l)libertarian types work, while a lot of the liberal types that are always out protesting things to get their mugs on the news don't.
woops, sorry bmw. That was meant to ping bmwcyle.
My fault for shortening his screen name in my post. Sorry 'bout that.
LOL, oh well, just pinging another freeper to read. (even though accidentally)
I applaud your post and your efforts. (For background, see my #20 and the included link to the Code Pink FReep.)
I suggest that you should prominently place the date, time, and specific location of the planned FReep in your post. Make it easy for people to get the needed info without having to follow a link.
An ideal location is close to the leftists, but separated from them by at least 15 feet and preferably by something, such as a street, a fence or hedge. By establishing a separation, you reduce the chances of things getting physical. Also, if there is some minor pushing or such, it will be clear to police that the leftists came over to your position, instead of you wading into their ranks.
You may also want to use FReepmail to exchange cellphone numbers with those FReepers who are attending. It can really help in coordinating last minute changes, such as police request that you move from the planned location to another one across and down the street.
Hope that you have a great and peaceful FReep!
tgsl, I think that your # 30 was intended for jmq, not JMG. Who knows, maybe it will get JMG to attend the FReep, too?
The enemy attacks again and the 5th columnist, radical, hippie brown shirts are out 'protesting' not the terrorist but the victims.
You are right. Thanks for catching my mistake.
Apologies to both JMG and jmq for my dyslexic issues.
I'd love to see the looks on their faces if the recruiters would step out and tell them that they, too, oppose the draft. I don't think the recruiters are allowed to engage them, however.
Good for both of you! So glad you were there. Do you think HRC noticed you? If she saw you and your daughter you can be sure you bothered her. I hope next time many more will be there too. Even if it is just you and your daughter, you have done what is right. Keep up the good work and keep your chins up!
How about if the recruiter came out and said, "Please step inside, you've all been drafted!"
OK, as punishment, you have to FReep the Code Pinkos and their allies until they literally swim to Cuba. Oh wait, you're doing that anyway.
Follow them around and taunt them. Wave flags, sing patriotic songs and be happy. Hippies absolutely hate happy, patriotic Americans.
If that doesn't work, set up Hippie washing stations. Make coupons for a free hippie wash, walk up and hand them to the traitors.Maybe one of them will take a swing at you and you can have Sunflower Moonbeam arrested.
It will be gloriously funny...
39th & Main? Damn, we can hit the Velvet Dog afterwards! :-)
How about someone dresses up as a Drill Sergeant and gives the hippies the full Sgt. Hartman routine? I volunteer to show up and give 100 pushups for our troops. :-)
I also imagine the recruiters would be quite amused.
I know it's frustrating, I end up yelling out my car window at how stupid they all look when I see them with their "blood for oil" signs, but you have to understand these people are ALWAYS wrong and they keep proving it over and over again. Everyone knows it, especially those that agree with them.
Don't give them a sounding board. Don't draw attention to dumbasses where everyone knows they are extraneous prix!
A year or two ago I would have come to KC to CP with you, but today would be counter productive, IMO...
I'll take a day off to do that. Can't be this monday though.
Keep me posted.
The problem with that scenario is that the armed services do not want a draft. But, it would be funny to watch them pulling endless duties of picking up trash, pulling weeds, cleaning weapons, and--why not--polishing officers' boots.
I was the guy who drove by and gave you a thumbs up 7 "go freeper......"
I believe you have some knowledge that would be useful on this thread. Help please.
Silence implies approval.
Sure, I'd love to join you, but the drive from Maryland is a little long. Besides, I have a job--every day, I put on camouflage patterned pajamas, (somewhat) shiny black boots, and a misshapen black beret and go out and battle the forces of Microsoft Excel. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. (And why am I on a Missouri board? Because the topic looked interesting!)
Go for it! Even if you end up by yourself, go for it!
Take the biggest American flag you can carry and one sign with few words and large letters that lets passersby know which side you are on. (I love protest warrior signs!)
Seeing displays of support for our Troops always gives me a boost and I'm sure the recruiters would love it, especially since they cannot respond to the protesters!
