As part of its monthly patching cycle, Microsoft on Tuesday plans to release three security alerts for flaws in Windows and Office.
Two of the security bulletins apply to Windows, and at least one of them is deemed "critical," Microsoft's highest risk rating, the company said in a notice posted on its Web site Thursday. Its Office productivity suite will get one bulletin, also rated critical.
The notice did not specify whether one of the patches will be for Internet Explorer. Microsoft earlier this week offered a workaround for a known flaw in the Web browser that opens the door for intruders to crash IE and to run arbitrary code.
Microsoft said it will also issue a "high-priority" update for Office that is unrelated to security on Tuesday. In addition, that day is tagged for the release of an updated version of the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, which detects and removes malicious code placed on computers, the company said.
The company gave no further information on Thursday's bulletins, other than stating that some of the Windows fixes will require restarting the computer, as may the Office update.
Critical fixes called Apple's System XXX.x............
Isn't it great?

Better than nothing
Swallows return to Capistrano, Buzzards to Hinkley, OH, and Windows needs to be patched. All is right with the Universe......
They didn't actually state how many times the computer may have to be rebooted...
When will someone propose a Lemon Law for software?
If Windows could only go that long without a "fix."
They already have, but the original copy was destroyed by a beta virus.........
I re-boot my computer at least 3 times a day.........Just have to remember not to do wahatever it was I did just before it locked up!.........
MS has a monthly cycle? Well, THAT explains a lot! ;-)
LOL

He's trolling. Nobody is seeing those sorts of problems.

Too bad that's too long for a tagline...
I always suspected that my Windows computers had monthly cycles.
bump
That's odd, and I hear it often but never understood it. I run Win98 on an old 500 mhz crate, and when it's not storming so bad I'm unplugged more than able to use it, I have to reboot once, maybe twice a week...for resources. I'm running a firewall, AVG, and a few other goodies since I'm the LAN server here, but crashes are extremely rare, BSODs are a maybe once a year thing, and my last format was in April '02, after a power blink during a defrag did a number on my OS. My WinME box is as troublefree as anything as old as it is that's forced to run Everquest can be expected to be...patches come and bring crashes, repatches fix them, but only EQ. Am I just the lucky one in a million here?
