Canada also on target list Americans, British, Australians, Spanish hit
National Post ^ | Friday, July 08, 2005 | Adrian Humphreys

Yesterday's bombings in London, coupled with the attacks on the United States, Spain and Australia (through the Bali nightclub bombings), may increase the likelihood of Canada becoming a target for terror.

Although it is not yet proved that an al-Qaeda group was responsible for yesterday's destruction, Canada is now one of a dwindling number of nations named as a target by Osama bin Laden that has not been directly hit.

"Human targets sorted by level of importance," reads a list in the al-Battar Military Manual, a training manual masterminded by Saif al-Adel, one of al-Qaeda's most senior leaders, and distributed to supporters over the Internet.

Jewish targets top the list. Then, in a separate category called "the Christians," the manual states: "The grades of importance are as follows: 1. Americans, 2. British, 3. Spaniards, 4. Australians, 5. Canadians, 6. Italians."

Strange how Canada was listed ahead of Italy, since Italy has troops in Iraq. Wonder what preparations the Canadian government has taken/is taking.

Every other "important" country has been bombed or attacked by these hoodlums. Looks like Canada wants in on the action to be part of the "important" countries.

So far, the US is the only one which has fought back in response to an attack.

Although it is not yet proved that an al-Qaeda group was responsible for yesterday's destruction,

The National Post didn't pay attention to the news. Some organization claiming to be "The Secret Organization of Al-Qaeda In Europe" claimed responsibility. Al-Qaeda is in over 100 countries worldwide, including Canada. I hate to say it, but it will be a matter of time unless Canada steps up their efforts to limit or eliminate the threat altogether. This is the reality of today.

And you live too close to Canada --- however, the larger cities would be the targets, so keep ranching, Big Sky Rancher.

Largest city nearest me is Regina, Saskatchewan, the provincial capitol, it has a population of about 250,000, and it's a melting pot of various minorities. It's about 2 hours north of here. CFB (Canadian Forces Base) Moose Jaw is 40 miles west of there.

Watch for Paul Martin to reduce the threat to Canada by pulling their forces (what little there is) completely from Afghanistan. I wouldn't put it over Martin to declare that he and Canada support the goals of Bin-Laden and Al-Qaeda just to try to shield Canada from terrorist attacks. Heck, Canada, along with Mexico are the main entry points to the U.S. for Al-Qaeda.

I will say this though, if anyone of Middle Eastern ethnicity came across the border, it would send up red flags at the border since the minority population of this county is less than 1%, which is mostly Native American, and a handful of African Americans. Not a day goes by where I see 3 or more border patrol outfits on the roads next to the farm here. There are 20 BP agents permanently stationed here since 9/11. Before 9/11, there was only 2. They had to build a bigger office to accomodate them all.

Absolutely. I may have lost count, but last I heard they picked up 4 Iraqi nationals at the Mexican border entering the US. Lord knows how many they haven't caught.

Strange how Canada was listed ahead of Italy,

Didn't Canada send a contingent of troops to Afghanistan, before Iraq even happened? Seems to me that all the liberals in the Great White North have forgotten this as they say "We're safe, we didn't go to Iraq". I have a feeling that they are in for a big shock, as the terrorists don't have such short memories, and they do hold a grudge. Couple that with the fact that Canada is wide open (more so than even the US and Britain), and easily accessible by those who would do her harm, and you have a recipe for disaster.

"Strange how Canada was listed ahead of Italy, since Italy has troops in Iraq."

Only strange from the viewpoint of the MSM who views everything from the lens of Iraq. Afghanistan is just as important to the jihadist, even more so for most probably. Notably, these two countries are particularly worrying for Iran.

After the Madrid bombings the jihadists mentioned both Afstan and Iraq, the govt announced a pull out from Iraq. Little reported was another communique complaining about Spaniards on Muslim lands, Zapatero said he was pulling out of Afstan too, though he seems to have reneged on that.

One thing is probable abuot the London bombings- the perps won't be Afghani or Iraqi.

BTW, another example of lefty/MSM selective amnesia involved Norway. A Zawahiri tape mentioned Norway, the Norwegians were all shocked since they weren't in Iraq. They couldn't understand Afghanistan was the cause since like the Spanish they are informed the Afghanis appreciate their presence there.

Canada is actually ramping up our commitment to Afghanistan ... not to Martin's credit though. I'm sure he'd rather us not be there.

Actually, a lot of nations have fought along side us since 9/11. Some nations have refused to send troops to Iraq, but have sent them to Afghanistan.

The article quotes a Canadian terrorism expert:
"An attack on Toronto will get a minor mention in U.S. papers."

Huh? I'd guess an attack on Toronto would get nearly the same coverage in the American press as an attack on an American city. It might taper off a little quicker and there might be fewer follow-up stories, but to say it would get "minor mention" is ridiculous.

Repost: (e.g. 'stupid old people repeat themselves' alert!)

'The Great White North' is most likely safe since terrorists, like all dogs, generally don't crap where they're permitted to sleep.

On that happy day when the U.S. Marines finally arrive in 'hot pursuit' of terror cells, many of us up here will be waving the Stars and Stripes and more than glad to point fingers!

They were not fighting back against an attack on them, though. If it weren't for us, no one would be fighting back.

For the world of me, I can't understand why anyone would want to bomb Canada.

How could Canada possibly have any relevance to any important world affairs?

I hate to say it, but I'm afraid it's going to take a serious terrorist attack on this country (Canada, I mean) before we really wake up to the danger, including those who are already in the country and have been for some time. I'm also afraid that if it does happen we will just fold like the Spanish did (and pull out of Afghanistan), although I hope not.

Sounds like the exact thing Martin would do. How this a$$kissing joke ever got to be the leader of a country is one of the biggest mysteries. With the Cretch, he was crooked, sleazy, I probably disagreed with 99% of what he said or did but I have an odd respect and admiration because he was a fighter and you knew where he stood (even if he was 100% wrong). Dithers kisses everyone's a$$ just to hold the title of "Prime Minister" regardless of what damage it does to the country, and if the going gets tough, he just blames the Americans. Maurice Strong must hold a very tight string to keep him propped up.

Terrorists would like to go after soft targets. Canada is ill-prepared and the terrorists know what. It's not a matter of if but when.

Canada's immigration policy is a freakin' joke. They schedule an immigration hearing, tell them to stay put in the country, and 9 times out of 10 the immigrant disappears into the system and they can't account for or find them. It's been that way long before 9/11 happend, and the Canadian government hasn't done a thing to change it. I guess they live by the slogan, "if it aint broke, don't fix it". Well, it's broke and they better fix it.

The immigration policy gets my blood boiling. Some people in my church know a Mexican couple who are being deported. Immigration didn't buy their story that their lives are under threat by the drug cartel that controls Mexico. Yet, we allow Al Queda in our nation. When are we going to toss out the friggin Al Queda? This liberal government is in cahoots with the terrorists. Period.
