HOUSTON- The reputed leader of a violent gang with roots in El Salvador was sentenced to seven months in prison Friday for illegally re-entering the country, U.S. Attorney Chuck Rosenberg announced.
Lester Rivera Paz, 29, of Honduras, is expected to be deported after completing his sentence. He has been in federal custody since his arrest in February near Falfurrias. He was indicted in March on one count of illegal entry into the United States after being deported.
Rivera, who officials say has many aliases, including "El Culiche" or The Tapeworm, Eber Anibal Rivera Paz and Franklin Jairo Rivera-Hernandez, was the Honduras leader of the Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13 gang.
He is accused of masterminding a Christmastime bus massacre in Honduras that killed 28 people.
More than 200 gang members, including several in Texas, have been arrested nationwide since the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement launched a sweep in March.

But the solution is to go after them in the cities where they are operating, not just sit back and hope to catch them crossimng the border. Especially since the ones without records can get visas.
How about when we deport him we parachute him back into South America with a bag full of dirty socks and shoe lace on his back for a chute. I don't think South America would object as long as his air borne corpse did not hit an innocent. With his tattooes he is dead meat when he gets home anyhows.

He'll either have to buy an offiicial identity in Mexico or sneak (take a limo) back across the border into the US. He'd by an official Mexican identity at a Mexican consulate and then melt into the world of gangs until he is caught. My bet is that between the time he is released from his 7 month sentence until the next time he is arrested in the US, he'll kill, personally, between 6 and 22 people.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it's costing American taxpayers 50K$ a year to incarcerate prisoners.
I think we should deport ALL the illegal alien prisoners (which make up a THIRD OF ALL PRISONERS) except for maybe those on death row...sure would save BILLIONS A YEAR and would open up slots for American criminals running around the country unabated.
Of course, it would all be in vain until we SECURED the borders & ports.

What can you do to help?
Get educated on gangs. A good place to start is the 2005 National Gang Threat Assessment, which outlines major gangs by region and how communities can help stop them.

I'm all for seeing him swinging at the end of a hemp rope after a short fall. Cheaper and more effective than running pre-season mini-camps for professional violent criminals.
The biggest obstacle to crushing the MS-13 is the Buchanan/Tancredo crowd type thinking that demands that anyone who cooperates, assists, or provides information to the FBI or LEOs be jailed and deported if they don't have the proper papers.
But then the Antis aren't concerned with gang crime any more than they are with terrorists are they? It's just another excuse to attack President Bush for not sealing the border to migrant laborers.
