NEW YORK, July 12 /CNW/ -- Leaders from around the world are greatly supporting President Clinton's first annual gathering of leaders known as the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). CGI's goal is to address global challenges in four areas: poverty, religion, climate change and governance. The event will take place September 15-17 in New York City. This nonpartisan conference will concentrate a diverse and select group of current and former heads of state, business leaders, noteworthy members of the academic community, and representatives of key non-governmental organizations to identify immediate and pragmatic solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems.
"Holding participants accountable for the help they pledge is the best way to ensure that real change is happening throughout the world," President Clinton said.
To date, CGI is being attended and supported by the following leaders:
King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
President Jacques Chirac of France
President Leonel Fernandez Reyna of the Dominican Republic
President Olusegun Obasanjo of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Prime Minister Tony Blair of the United Kingdom
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan
Vice Premier Shimon Peres of the State of Israel
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of the State of California
Dr. Hernando de Soto of the Instituto Libertad y Democracia in Lima, Peru
Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of UPA, New Delhi, India
Rupert Murdoch, CEO of New Corporation, New York, NY
Richard Parsons, Chairman & CEO, Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY
Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Founder & Managing Director of the Grameen Bank
President Clinton has created the CGI to address some of the most historically intractable problems affecting our world. The two-day Initiative will focus on four themes: how to reduce poverty; using religion as a force for reconciliation and conflict resolution; implementing new business strategies and technologies to combat climate change; and strengthening governance. Some members of the four advisory boards comprised of experts in the topic areas include: General Wesley Clark, Pierre Omidyar, Jeffrey Sachs, Robert Rubin, Howard Shultz, George Soros, Edgar Bronfman Sr., President Leonel Fernandez Reyna, Congressman Jim Kolbe, former President Ernesto Zedillo, Senator Barack Obama and Cardinal Theodore McCarrick.
"I am thrilled that world leaders from both the public and private sectors have agreed to support me and come together to make a difference," added President Clinton. "And what we begin during three days in September will not end with the closing session of our event. My Foundation will take the ideas we develop and keep working with our Global Initiative participants and others to achieve tangible results."

There is no length to which this man will not go to get some girls to grope. Actually, I am more disgusted by this grandstander than I can express.
Kofi is done, and he knows it's just a matter of time, he just wants to skim another billion or two for retirement, and good old Billy probably promised, that he will let him.
global 'smarming' haPPens! :0
Gotta wonder if the 'toons have the FBI files on some of them.
And now he is suddenly an expert on terrorism.
Clinton: Rogue nations still threaten U.S.
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8554059/
The biggest threat to the United States and European nations is the potential for terrorist groups to get their hands on a bomb or the technology to build one from a rogue nation like North Korea, according to former U.S. President Bill Clinton, who spoke with CNBCs Ron Insana in an exclusive interview Tuesday.
It gets worse. On that same page, there's a link to the video that he shot with Ron Insana of CNBC. I couldn't believe that Ron would give clinton so much time. They discussed everything, from the terrorism mentioned in your link to his views on the G8. It's as if he still mattered.
weeeell, as liberals say,
"think globally, act locally"!
I guess the Official Mobile Home was being used for a local garage sale.
What's worse: Some women out there still believe this guy is relevant enough for a groupie encounter.
Ugh!
Has the CDC alerted the World Health Organization?
He can't get a UN appointment, so he's just making his own UN. That's the only way he can be the leader of anything. I hope something good comes from it, but I'm so questioning the motives and God has a way of quashing badly motivated self graciating efforts. BUT, I could be wrong!
Good grief!
Reduce poverty: Raise taxes to 90 percent on American workers' salaries, and and send money abroad - after Clinton takes his cut.
Using religion as a force for reconciliation and conflict resolution: Turn the Muslims loose and take care of population growth. Arkancide run amok.
Strengthening governance: Put all conservatives in the electric chair. Except Billy Graham.
Learn how to live in real hell: Elect Hillary President.
He just wants someone, anyone to visit his trailer park on stilts in the red light district of Little Rock. It wasn't red light until Clinton moved in.
I have been past this THING several times and there is never anyone there. lol! So much for another Clinton promise of it bringing in money to the Little Rock area. Another Clinton lie to get Arkansans and the folks of Little Rock to help foot the bill for his playground when he stops by. There is a penthouse for Clinton to party with his "friends" when he is in town. (which most of hope is NEVER!)
They couldn't pay me to go in that trailer on stilts known as the THING. THE UGLY THING...

The Clinton Global Initiative is a project of the William J. Clinton Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to strengthen the capacity of people throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence. To advance this mission, the Foundation has developed programs and partnerships in the following areas:
* Economic Empowerment
* Health Security with an emphasis
on HIV/AIDS
* Racial, Ethnic and Religious Reconciliation
* Education, Leadership Development
and Citizen Service
The Foundation works principally through partnerships with like-minded individuals, organizations, corporations, and governments, often serving as an incubator for new policies and programs.
Along with these programs and initiatives, the William J. Clinton Foundation designed and developed the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Encompassing the vision of President Clinton, the Center is located within a 30 acre city park along the southern bank of the Arkansas River. In addition to the Little Rock offices of the William J. Clinton Foundation, the Clinton Presidential Center includes the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum and the Clinton School of Public Service.

Or it could be that Little Rock isn't big enough for Bill to launch his quest for global domination.
Exactly my first thought about a Clinton Global Initiative.
An effort to boink as many women in as many countries as possible.
Apparently, clinton can't get any of the CGI folks to go into that THING as well. Instead, based on the presser, he's holding the meeting in Manhattan.
LOL!
Charles Krauthammer once raised the notion that we shouldn't strive to destroy the UN. Instead, we should just make it irrelevant. If what you are saying about Clinton making his own UN turns out to be true, then Krauthammer's idea may be realized. Then it's just a matter of time for Clinton's UN Version 2.0 to become as irrelevant as he already is.
