Fair enough, but the source article hates Gonzales.

He's gotten a bum rap here and among many conservative organizations for a terrible mischaracterization of one Texas Supreme Court case he sat on. I'm not going to rehash it here again for at least the eighth time, but he's not the bad guy social conservatives think he is.

Bush won't pick him, and I'm headed to bed, so anyone who wants to argue with me will be talking to the hand. I'm done.

"Key word. He is not seeking, ..."

You are exactly right. I don't think people usually campaign or seek a Supreme Court position. They normally accept an appointment, but they don't campaign for it. If someone were campaigning for it, they would be moved to the top of the Do Not Nominate list.

Maybe Pres. Bush did hear from his base.....? Hopefully we will know soon who the nominee is.....I still have faith that the base will be happy with the pick.

Yes, any source that publishes such an unflattering photo clearly illustrates their bias.

I don't doubt for a moment he is very intelligent. I just don't believe Gonzales is the best choice for SCOTUS, for a number of reasons.

'I'm not a candidate for the Supreme Court Vice-Presidency' -- and that remains true today," Gonzales Cheney said.

"I love being attorney general a campaign advisor. My job, currently, is to help the president make this decision," he added.

I'm not much of a pessimist, but there seems to be some wiggle room in there.

What would give you that idea?
