IT'S THE TERRORISM - (suicide bombings inevitably coming to the United States!)
NYPOST ONLINE.COM ^ | JULY 13, 2005 | EDITOR

Save for the 9/11 attacks that leveled the World Trade Center, the United States has not had to confront the reality of suicide bombings.

But for how much longer?

If Americans fail to halt the partisan ankle-biting that has come to characterize most discussions of the War on Terror, and instead present a united front to the world, they will soon find out.

That Saddam Hussein's Iraq was a key element in the worldwide terrorist network of which Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda were the kingpins is largely now beyond dispute.

Stephen F. Hayes and Thomas Joscelyn, writing in The Weekly Standard, have compiled an impressive dossier of documentation — all dating back before 9/11 — that shows extensive links between Saddam and Osama.

Bottom line: Saddam's Iraq was a necessary target in the War on Terror.

Meanwhile, a compelling series in The Wall Street Journal explores radical Islam's presence in western Europe. Yesterday's installment traces it back to the 1950s, when a mosque built by ex-Nazi Muslim soldiers became an outpost for the Muslim Brotherhood — the progenitor of today's Islamist terror networks.

Radical Islam is in this for the long haul; anyone who doubts it either hasn't been paying attention, or simply is willfully ignorant.

This is not an indictment of Islam — though certainly it would be helpful if moderate Islamic leaders brought some rhetorical indictments of their own.

But it is meant to underscore the true nature of the forces now arrayed against civilization — fanatical, intelligent and utterly ruthless.

That such a warning is necessary nearly four years after 9/11 is, to put it mildly, simply appalling.

If it happens, what we may do will make what we did to the Nisei in WW2 look like a campout!

Guess you could say that 50+% of the US population is utterly ignorant then.

That such a warning is necessary nearly four years after 9/11 is, to put it mildly, simply appalling.

The same 50+% will be the most vocal group to accuse the administration of not protecting them from an attack. Not that GW has taken ALL the measures possible to protect the country. Our next attack will be a direct result of our OPEN illegal immigration policy. GW inherited it, just as he inherited the 9/11 attack. This administration has completely turned a blind eye to the capability of "anybody" crossing our borders. Their lack of any effort to curb this invasion will directly result in GW and the Republican administration taking the blame for the terrorist's being capable of doing it. This conservative is both worried about the security of the country but is equally concerned that GW and Co will be outed as a result of another attack.

It's time to profile.

We do know the following about terrorists:

1. All terrorists are Muslim
2. The age range for terrorists is approximately 15-40
3. 99.99% of terrorists are male

We should use these parameters to profile to start and adjust them if neccessary. Nationality should not be a factor.

While I agree that it would be nice for us to present a united front, I must say, "bull pucky." They'll continue to come after us regardless of what we do, short of nuking them all off the planet.

The dems will continue to dispute any connection between Iraq and terrorism but that is simply because they are trying to continue to hide Willie's role and his relations with Saddam, OBL and the Saudis.

The problem with US suicide bombers is that cathing them will require that we today begin looking carefully at Muslims! The bombers will be Muslims, probably, non-Arab Muslims who converted while young in the US or Canada and who have been convinced that they have a special place in paradise. But, they will be Muslims!! And, that means profiling to confront them and stop them.

The Brits, for example, had far less trouble fighting the Irish than they will the Palis. The issues are exactly the same, but the leftist have a warn spot for brown terrorist bombers.

While I am not opposed to adjusting anyone that needs it your factoid number one is a bit off the mark.

Unless you discount the IRA, ETA (Spain), FALN (Puerto Rico), PLA (The Phillipines) tp name a few. Muslim terrorists certainly are the greatest threat at the moment and the most indiscriminate in their blood lust, but all? no.

If they hit us again, we need to be prepared to do what it takes to put a stop to their party for good.

I'm not suggesting a massive nuclear assault, at least not as a first resort. A more effective option would be to get these countries to surrender unconditionally, or face total destruction. Once we get control of these countries, we can then set about the work of utterly rooting out the terrorist elements among them.

Tragically this will probably happen, it will probably happen in places that will be soft targets but will offer the greatest opportunity to cause the most damage or terror imaginable. I hate to say it, but another Beslan comes to mind as we approach the coming school year...

I don't really think that's possible here.

Don't get me wrong. It's not that I think we have some magical umbrella. I just dont' think it's possible to organize, train, arm, and support fifty or sixty radicals here without tripping some alarms.

We really don't have anything analogous to Chechens here.

I think if we see anything, it will be more along the lines of the D.C. snipers; small groups using hit and run tactics.

I agree, but it only takes one or two people with backpacks to get into a school assembly to cause a tragic mess...
