Lies of omission: Howard Fineman on Imus (semi-vanity)
Imus in the Morning

Posted on 07/14/2005 6:29:06 AM PDT by zook

Fineman does his usual "leave out half the story" trick on Imus this morning. Implies that Rove is a target of the special prosecutor when we've just learned this isn't true. Then suggests that we don't know whether or not Cheney sent Wilson to Niger and that it must not have been his wife (because she's vigorously denied it), despite the findings of the Senate committe on this.

Fineman's mission, apparently, is to stir up public demand for a full blown prosecutorial investigation into President Bush's decision to go to war. He stated that he couldn't see how the special prosecutor could avoid going right to the bottom of this.

Fortunately, Monica Crowley came on about half an hour later to clear the air and set everyone straight.

I can't stand Imus anymore. His show has become a total joke. His show has been "get Bush" for 2 years now, with the normal gaggle of leftwing press people polluting his airwaves.

Monica Crowley was on this morning, and she was pretty refreshing to hear.

Jay Sevren is about the closest thing they get to a conservative on there and he's still half a moron without the facts.

Someone needs to inform Fineman of the memo Plame sent to her superiors at the CIA recommending Wilson for the job.

Which is why I was amazed to see Monica Crowley on there providing a dose of truth.

The key democratic "talking point" on the whole Rove/Palme issue is mock outrage accomnied by total amnesia the Senates investigation which proved Wilson was an habitual liar.

When a conservative reminds one of the liberal talking heads about Wilson being discredited the liberal pretends like that is a partisan attack or an unsubstanuated attack instead of an established fact. Essentially Bush lied and Wilson lied are considered to have equal credence.

The MSM has no principle beyond lust for power. And that's why so many stories they print support dems.

The MSM wants liberals in office to regain the power of their little black books. Who you call, who you quote, and how powerful that person is, and what they "share", makes or breaks a MSM career.

The "bigs" in the MSM only have liberals in their little black books.

CNN is dying because all the folks who share the "good stuff" are out of office and out of power. FOX is doing well because the decision makers -- the movers and shakers -- talk to FOX. The MSM has a dog in this fight. And their unprincipled hunger is showing.

Imus and Fineman are scum. As is Sissy Matthews. They know the dems are lying and they are willing accomplices in their lies. That's why their ratings are in the toilet.

No, its much worse than that. Imus is a suck up who will go along with whatever he preceives to be the flow. He is no better than these morning show ho's who parrot the NY Times. Fineman is just a lost sole member of the MSM. The MSM is beside itself right now. Ten or fifteen years ago if they had put this much pressure on a member of an administration, that person would be gone. Now, the Bush administration just says "no comment" and lets the MSM stew, knowing full well that the MSM no longer has a monopoly.

Firstly, who in the world listens to Imus anymore??

Secondly, it is entirely possible that Rove IS indeed a target of the special prosecutor, despite statements to the contrary by Rove's attorney.

In my experience, the lawyer for someone under investtigation ALWAYS denies publically that his client is a target .... until it is shown to be otherwise.

Dont get me wrong. I do not believe Rove is the main target of the Special Prosecutor.

I think it is entirely possible that the SP is investigating the shenanigans which led to Wilson being appointed special envoy to Niger in the first place, especially in light of the fact he had no credentials on investigating WMD existances outside of the fact that he had once been ambasador to Iraq...

As for Rove not being the target, I would not bet the farm on that claim, since it came from Rove's lawyer.

Furthermore, any prosecutor worth his or her salt NEVER comes out and names a specific target. That would not only disrupt the investigation, it would make certain people involved clam up quicker than Monica Lewinsky under subpeona.

I used to like Bernie too but since he has taken his stand against the war in Iraq and in my opinion, the WOT he is a turd. He is pissed because about this time last year Jay Severin took his summer vacation from the mic in Boston on his talk show and penciled in Bernie for a fill-in. Bernie came on and started his monologue on how GWB must get out of Iraq and how the voters should vote for Kerry. The callers got all over Bernie and Bernie had no answers but had to be bleeped several times then after about 45 minutes the signal went dead. They ran several sets of commercial spots then the announcer came on, said there was a technical problem and they would run best of Severin the rest of the day. Bernie never came back on even though he was to be on all week.

His plans for a radio career was over from that moment on.

The last time Imus was interesting was about the same time as the last time SNL was funny.

I used to listen to Imus When I lived in Jersey, but at that time he was still doing his humourous skits like "The Reverend Billy Joe Hargus" and "Tres Huevos" some of those were hysterically funny. Now Imus is just plain hysterical!

All you need to know about Imus: he actually admires ... thinks they are insightful ... the Times' Three Stooges: Friedman, Rich and Dowd.

"Jay Sevren is about the closest thing they get to a conservative on there and he's still half a moron without the facts."

Jay's an idiot iberal like the rest. He started in this morning telling some jokes that totally bombed about the female commander of the shuttle forgetting the keys and getting lost, etc... Jay also said something along the lines of "these are smart people in the White House... well, with one exception..." and he always refers to conservatives as "the conservatives" or "those conservatives" but he always lumps himself in with the Democrats and the Media. He's like Imus, trying to play both sides of the fence but he is a liberal. Of course, on to Karl Rove he then proceeded to tell us that Karl Rove, though what he did might not have been illegal, he is a prominent member of the Bush White House and should be held to higher standards.

....Of course, this was the same argument used when the dems were trying to get Newt but was conveniently shelved for the eight years of the Clinton administration.

"I think he's claimed to be a Libertarian before."

The party lines are becoming more and more blurred, I would be interested to see his voting record.
