I believe that his sentence is over in 2007, isn't it? Why exactly is he starving himself when he will be free in two years? I read his blog (http://freeganji.blogspot.com/), but it's not clear to me what he is trying to accomplish by not eating.

He is demanding an unconditional release from prison. He is determined to bring the plight of the Iranian people to the world, even at the expense of his life, if necessary.

Will the world watch silently?

The regime will likely keep him in prison indefinitely. They have threatened to keep him their for life.
