Let's not forget the seven RINOs and why we dislike them...
Note: DeWine, Snowe and Lincoln are up next year.
John McCain, Arizona First elected: 1986; next election: 2010 The leader of the pack, the has-been, would-be, presidential contender has compromised with the donkeys once too many times. A McCain vs. Frist primary fight in '08 is in the making, and we Republicans will remember this compromise deal and say good-bye to Sen. McCain. A certified RINO, McCain bit the hand that feeds him once too many times.
Olympia Snowe, Maine First elected: 1994; next election: 2006 She and her compatriot, Susan Collins, give a whole new name to 'RINO'. Never on the side of the Republican Party, Collins's vote on judicial nominees should seal her fate amongst the GOP in Maine. A primary challenge next year is desperately needed - now!
Susan Collins, Maine First elected: 1996; next election: 2008 The second RINO from Maine, Ms. Collins - like Snowe - has disappointed our party again and again. Now is the time to raise the money necessary to defeat this weakling in '08.
Mike Dewine, Ohio First elected: 1994; next election: 2006 The Ohioan thought more about his general election campaign next year, than about the party that got him elected in the first place. Let's help Mike pack his bags next year, and help nominate a true Republican in his place.
Lindsey Graham, South Carolina First elected: 2002; next election: 2008 This southern RINO needs to go, and stat. Neither charming nor hospitable, Sen. Graham has been an embarrassment to the Republican party for some time. Let's prepare to bring this guy down in defeat in '08.
Lincoln Chafee, Rhode Island First elected: 1998; next election: 2006 No better than Jim "Jumpin" Jeffords, it would make no difference if this guy was replaced by a Democrat next year. We need to bring this one down.
John Warner, Virginia First elected: 1978; next election: 2008 Perhaps senility has befallen this unlikely RINO. Come '08, he'll likely retire, but if he doesn't, a primary challenge might be necessary.
bump for later
So far the filibuster deal has worked out in our favor. As long as there are no more filibusters of Bush's federal appeals court picks, and if their are, and most of the seven keep their word to resurrect the "nuclear option", I won't have that much to complain about.
I guess we'll see how the Supreme Court nominations play out, but McCain will do himself a favor if he keeps up with the kind of attitude he displayed just the other day.
The two from Maine don't bother me all that much because we probably couldn't do much better. It's the other ones that we need to focus on. (We couldn't do better than Chaffee either, but who cares?).
Regarding Snow, Collins, and Chafee, we probably can not elect anyone more conservative. However, regarding the rest, particularly Dewine, Graham, and Warner, we should be able to elect a far more conservative candidate.
As a South Carolinian, I would love to see Graham be defeated so he would shut up.
A Republican ticket headed up by Bill Frist will result in another President Clinton.
true... so in that case you may have to look for a mccain-guiliani ticket for '08 - '12 and then a guiliani rice ticket for '12 - '20...
