Some smart lawyer should organize a class action lawsuit against the Congress that made the MTBE law.

The businesses that made the stuff are not in fault.

Then Congress could bail themselves out and settle....sticking the taxpayers for their blind incompetence again!!

And again.......etc.

Indeed, they did. Upon the strong recommendation of the EPA, in fact.

I believe there were even some warnings from the industry anticipating the eventual problem.

What we have here is a group of pols unwilling to accept the consequences of their own actions.

PS: It was, after all, a Democrat Congress that passed the measure in 1990, so I'm not surprised that it's become a partisan issue.
