China is prepared to use nuclear weapons against the US if it is attacked by Washington during a confrontation over Taiwan, a Chinese general said on Thursday.
If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China's territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons, said General Zhu Chenghu.
Gen Zhu was speaking at a function for foreign journalists organised, in part, by the Chinese government. He added that China's definition of its territory included warships and aircraft.
If the Americans are determined to interfere [then] we will be determined to respond, said Gen Zhu, who is also a professor at China's National Defence University.

LOL!!!
does this guy want a country after they nuke LA?
Sure.... They would nuke us, and we would nuke them, and all their allies.
That's the simple response to that.
bttt
Sounds like he's channelling Khruschev.
Thank you Clinton, Albright, and Loral Space for making this threat a possibility.
He talks big (thanks to the Clintons).
Missile Defense.
(Seriously I don't see the PLAAF being able to drop a bomb, and their missiles can be stopped right?)
Yes, but by all means, let them buy Unocal.
And then we would nuke them back to the Stone Age and the people they had left would be scratching the dirt with sticks and... oh wait....
That's like someone with a gun in each of their hands.
One is pointed at their own head, the other pointed at someone else.
Pulling both triggers at once would be the result in this case.
Thank you Clinton, Albright, and Loral Space for making this threat a possibility.

Chinagate was the crime of the century, and to this date, I still don't know why Clinton is not rotting in federal prison for high treason...along with his buddy, Bernie Schwartz.
we need to send more high school and college students over to china for a look.
they'd come home a bit less enthused about the left.
Smiling little Monkey-in-a-suit Bump.
Problem is, do WE want a country after we respond? MAD is only applicable if we believe the other side cares about its citizens. In the case of China, that's debatable.
That said, they would be a parking lot as well. But that doesn't bring back the 10 million we just lost from Southern California, nor would it resolve the economic depression that would result.
This may be the best reason to continue the economic dance with China. If the powers-that-be see us as an indispensible partner for their comfort of living, they may not do anything with Taiwan at all except keep them on their toes in case they suddenly don't need us anymore.
So I guess it's more about an economic MAD than a price in terms of human loss.
Doesn't our response really depend on who's in office and what party's holding congress at the time?
I think it's time the UN took a hard line with China and prepared to defend Taiwan.
bahahaahahahahahaha
*wipes tear*
*guffaws*
Don't forget Hazel O'Leary.
I dont think so...
I think that in the end, even a buffoon like Billy Bob or Carter would have had to go to war in Afghanistan after 9/11...
of course if someone else gets in there, i.e. Hillary, it could be different....but I doubt it...Hillary is a populist after all. She gained that trait from her husband. She would do what she thought would be the most popular....
Oh yeah, thank you S(l)ick Willie, Rubin Sandwich and Madeline NoBright.
China: We'd nuke U.S. if provoked over Taiwan - Major general;"Beijing prepared to use WMDs vs.US"),
Yeah general and we're prepared to let our ballistic missile submarine force blast your country into a smoking pile of radioactive ashes if you try. We don't talk about! We'll just do it! 3 Ohio class could do the job on China and take N.Korea out as a bonus.
What DON'T the Chicoms have to be cocky over?
Afterall, our politicos seem content to sell us out.
Oh no! The only solution is to buy more crap from them!!!
I have a one word response: "Ohio"
"Yes, but by all means, let them buy Unocal."
And let's continue to let them do all our manufacturing of rare-earth materials and special components for OUR missles.
I agree. To me, it is unbelievable that the campaign contributions by people and organizations with ties to the PRC have been completely ignored.
The project I work on at the office is about to move to Beijing. Most of my colleagues who are moving there are hardcore liberals. I joke with them about how they'll all be Republican voters after they return from their 3 yr. assignments in red China.
Elect another Clinton and see what happens.
"Eh.. Getting a bit too cocky?"
A stupid thing to say, for sure. But, it reveals the attitude. Our friendly, capitalist, cuddly, huggable, low cost Chinese buddies are COMMUNISTS!
But do we really care if our portfolio went up last quarter and we can buy such cheap stuff?
Go back to sleep, the government has it all under control. But, on your next trip to WalMart, look for a Chinese/English dictionary, and maybe a copy of Mao Tse Tung's biography.
.... yet another reason why I'm confounded that GHW Bush is chumming around so publicly with WJC. and Bush 41 knows all this stuff much more intimately than we do...
Great point. I agree with that.
When I saw this article, I honestly thought it referred to Gen. Clark's comments on Fox last night. He sounded giddy at the thought too. Sounded like he confirmed China's need to defend herself against the US. Why in the world did Fox hire this man?
"Thank you Clinton, Albright, and Loral Space for making this threat a possibility."
Yes, and I'm really glad that offshore outsourcing is doing nothing to embolden them. Or make it possible for them to implement the technology they bought.
I can dream, can't I?
Can't I?
Oh, the humanity!
I wont be voting for her...
I didnt vote for her husband either, but I was too young to vote anyway....
Communists have demonstrated they are willing to take horrifyingly large losses to accomplish their goals (Russia in WWII, China in Korea, along with the NVA and VC in Vietnam). Hopefully, we will have someone in office that has some backbone and resolve when this all comes down.
If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China's territory"
In other words, we can't beat the USA.
China is desperate over Taiwan...would a real future superpower get dragged down by that issue? They are humiliated that they can do nothing regarding Taiwan.
"Chinagate was the crime of the century, and to this date, I still don't know why Clinton is not rotting in federal prison for high treason...along with his buddy, Bernie Schwartz."
Totally agree, Eagle! Traitor 'Toon and his traitorous cronies get a pass from all of the dem/lib/socialists and their willing accomplices in the MSM. Yet, the same MSM wants to tar and feather (or worse) Karl Rove! I think my head is going to explode!!
"This may be the best reason to continue the economic dance with China. If the powers-that-be see us as an indispensible partner for their comfort of living, they may not do anything with Taiwan at all except keep them on their toes in case they suddenly don't need us anymore. "
Hmmmm, pretzel logic? When it is pointed out that offshore outsourcing will result in a local workforce that is unable to buy products, the typical free market reply is: Someone, somewhere will be working and able to buy.
So, extending that logic, if the manufacturing plants are in China, and the US is crippled, you sell elsewhere. Someone, somewhere will be working and able to buy.
yeah, go ahead. and then try to collect the interest on all those bonds you own, morons.
It is only MAD when the other country could wipe us out as easily as we could do to them. The chinese can't do that (yet).....
actually I believe they could.
All they need do is stop the ships from leaving port with all those cheap consumer goods .... a death blow to our soft underbelly ...
They may not be ready now but they are sure spending quite a bit on building up their military thanks to our trade inbalance with them.
Hey a--hole, can you spell three gorges dam?
