The Power of Rice (Condi vs. Hillary, 2008)
National Review Online's The Buzz ^ | June 14, 2004 | Eric Pfeiffer

Posted on 07/15/2005 10:07:25 AM PDT by section9

The Power of Rice

The Hotline also polled on some questions concerning 2008. In their poll, Hillary Clinton has a positive approval rating of 48 to 44 percent.

By contrast, Condoleezza Rice has a 59 to 25 percent approval rating.

By an overwhelming percentage of 85 to 9, respondents said they would be comfortable supporting a female candidate for the White House. And by a greater margin, 86 to 4 percent, participants said they would vote to support an African-American candidate who was well qualified.

Rice also strongly outpolls Clinton on all national security questions: who is stronger on national security issues, ability to handle an international crisis, ability to protect the U.S. from a terrorist attack, ability to manage Iraq and ability to be a “strong and decisive” leader.

For more on Rice, please check out my NRO piece today.

Well, if any of you skeptics are still in denial about how strong Condi would Run against Hillary, here's the latest from The Hotline. We have further Condi news and views, plus the usual assortment of caps, t-shirts, bumper stickers, even lapel pins for your inner Condi enthusiast just waiting to get out, at our website, AmericansForRice.com. Eric Pfeiffer just interviewed several of our people and wrote a good piece about us, which you can read at the link in the article, btw.

Check out Hillary's negatives vs. Condi's negatives. Sweet! Best news I've heard all day, or at least since the website got overrun yesterday when the NRO piece on us came out.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Chris, I've always thought Condi COULD be a powerful candidate IF she a) quit being SOS next year and began to establish an organization; b) somehow could overcome the "administrative inexperience" problem. None of that would matter, however, if she came out strong against illegal immigration and for constitutionalist judges. If she does that, watch out. She'll be a shoo-in, regardless of her positions on "pro-life," because her only competition is going to be McLame.

I no longer support Condi for anything, due to her involvement with the Council on Foreign Relations and their idiotic plan to erase the American borders and merge us with Canada and Mexico.

LS, anyone who is an Originalist on Second Amendment issues should give you confidence about what kind of judges she would appoint to the High Court.

I mean, she calls herself an "absolutist" on the Second Amendment. She also said in the Larry King interview that you can't have the First Amendment without the Second. So, that sort of tells you how she feels about Originalism as a doctrine.

Your first point about having to get in the game is well taken, though.

Meanwhile, there's that small matter of black helicopters....

Silly me, here I thought Rice was a patriot trying to serve her country.

Dear Gillman from the Black Lagoon:

Take a deep cleansing breath (or another beer if you prefer) and see if you can't get that black helicopter that you arrived on to take you back to reality. And here's a hint, don't drink the Kool-Aid served in-flight.

The idea of "extending" our security perimeter to other countries in Central, South and North America is already bearing fruit, but this is being pounced upon by such fun-loving conservatives as Phyllis Schlafly. (Talk about a woman that needs a drink, or two, or three to kill that bug that's a couple feet up one of her bodily orifices!) For example, in Honduras, after a recent passport scandal the US went down and revamped the entire system to include biometrics to plug this security hole big enough to deliver terrorists to the US. It is a system more advanced than our own. Having agreements that allow US Customs and Immigration inspectors to operate on foreign soil prior to cargo and people arriving in the US only INCREASES our security. Implementing immigration policies with biometrics for visa holders, likewise increases our security.

However, he's sort of faded out in the past weeks. Methinks he got scammed a bit too easily by the Gang of 14.

This agreement which we will have no chance to agree to, essentially erases our nation and obligates the former American taxpayers to support ALL the losers in Mexico, instead of just the millions of criminal invaders we have now.

There are provisions for Mexican and Canadian LEO's to ply their trade in the former U.S.

The plan is to make one big country out of the three and there will be no Constitution like we have now.

Robert Pastor:

...The third institution would be an inter-parliamentary group on North America. So much of the agenda on North America today is domestic, which is another way of saying that our parliaments have a very important role to play, and yet our parliaments are mostly pulled backwards by their constituencies, rather than forwards to looking at how their constituencies relate across borders. And perhaps the only way to compensate for that would be to have our parliamentary leaders meet every other year in a North American context addressing an agenda very similar to the one that the North American advisory council would develop for the summit meeting....

More:

...A sixth institution that was mentioned both by Pedro Aspe and Bill Weld is a North American investment fund to narrow this development gap between Mexico and its neighbors...

Bleeding the taxpayers dry.

...Seventh, to encourage an identity and to encourage research and to encourage our students to recognize that they are not only citizens of each country, but residents of North America; to sponsor Centers for North America Studies in all three countries very similar to what the European Union does in all of our countries, but which none of our countries do for ourselves...

Fianlly Paul Manly:

...MANLEY: There are quite a few of those things. [Laughter] I've been making a habit of saying many of them. You know, when we dealt with this in 2001, the immediate interpretation of perimeter was elimination of border...

http://www.cfr.org/pub8138/robert_a_pastor_william_f_weld_john_p_manley_pedro_c_aspe/building_a_north_american_community_report_of_the_independent_task_force_on_the_future_of_north_america.php

This is treason, plain and simple.

And that's why Giuliani, Rice and Arnold were first, second and third at last year's CPAC straw poll, right?! Give me a break all of the "hard-line" pro-life candidates were in the single digits.

Condi is hardly a favorite of Planned Parenthood:
1. She's against late-term abortions
2. She's for Roe v Wade being overturned in deference to state legislatures and courts (her libertarian view)
3. She's for parental notification.
4. She's against federal funding for any abortions.

That's not the constitutional amendment that the Pro Lifers want, but with a Conservative Supreme Court, these positons are clearly on the conservative side and would be a blow against the pro-choice groups who want the status quo -- allowing the murder of infants up until 24-26 weeks. These positions are the most expeditious way to reduce abortion in the US. Let's be realistic, millions of abortions will take place long before there is any possibility of an amendment being passed.

Condi has not had to take stands on the issues, so she has not created any negatives. It is that simple.

I have and there just is not any "there", there. I've heard about the evils of the CFR since the late 70's. It's a John Birch Society canard that is worn out, just like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. I don't believe that fiction, either. A few coincidental facts does not a conspiracy make. Win a poll? Sure. Win the primaries? Not a chance. Win the general election? Not likely.

Note that the two issues that drove voters to the polls last election were marriage and abortion. Our side has the upper hand on those issues. Weak GOP candidates on values issues don't stand an chance.

Nor SHOULD they.

Nothing against Arnold. I wouldn't vote for him for Pres either, but in California everything is relative, and when you consider him against Boxer and Pelosi, Arnold IS a conservative.

But to your point of the Constitution, I am in 100% agreement. IMO it's not a good idea to even consider changing it so that someone born elsewhere could be President.

And if I didn't already hold that opinion, I would have changed my thinking real quick when Maddy Halfbright came down in support of changing that part of the constitution.

NO for two reasons: First he's a FREAKIN' RINO who'll send the country down the tubes (everybody disarmed first) if he get's into the Oval and Second he'll never get that far because his candicacy would be in itself unconstitutional.
