ACLU pushes state on Quran oaths

GREENSBORO — The ACLU of North Carolina on Monday accused state court officials of not responding quickly enough to a controversy involving the use of the Quran for courtroom oaths.

The group’s legal foundation is calling on the state Administrative Office of the Courts to adopt a policy allowing the Quran and other religious texts for oath-taking in North Carolina courtrooms.

A Greensboro Muslim group has been waiting for an AOC decision for three weeks after Guilford County’s two top judges decided that Muslims could not legally take an oath on the Quran.

“We think they are dragging their feet,” said Jennifer Rudinger, the state ACLU’s executive director.

Her group, along with a Washington-based Islamic civil rights organization and Greensboro-area religious leaders, has called on the AOC to act. The ACLU wrote a formal letter to the state agency June 28 but has received no word back.

An AOC spokesman on Monday denied that the agency was dawdling. Dick Ellis said a judicial conference last month and vacation schedules have kept key decision-makers from working on the issue.

“Nobody has had time to do that around here,” he said.

Informally, Ellis said, most of the agency’s lawyers feel the issue should be resolved by legislators.

What's the point of taking an oath on the quran? Islam allows lying. The point of swearing on the bible is that it does not allow lying. And, of course, the ACLU is being hypocrites to advocate religious symbols in the courthouse when they've been avidly fighting to remove them. It's just further proof that they are Anti-Christan, not just interested in keeping out all symbols.

All this is simply the natural consequence of the constitutional "logic" SCOTUS has imposed on the country time and again. Until we start facing it head-on, we're going to be getting more ridiculous cases like this.

Matthew 5:33-37

http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible/matthew/matthew5.htm

33
"Again you have heard that it was said to your ancestors, 'Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow.'
34
But I say to you, do not swear at all; 23 not by heaven, for it is God's throne;
35
nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36
Do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black.
37
Let your 'Yes' mean 'Yes,' and your 'No' mean 'No.' Anything more is from the evil one.

I'd submit that this is a most stupid and ignorant request by the ACLU which works against Christianity.

For what reason do these decrepit intellects support the Koran over the Holy Bible?

The answer will verify why the ACLU is not a friend of the United States of America.

A Greensboro Muslim group...

What's next? A Mount Pilot Muslim group, a Mayberry Muslim group...

Times change.

Wouldn't that be a bit counter productive, since Muslims believe that it is ok to lie to an infidel?

It is a equivalency effort not a religion effort.

This shows the TRANSPARENT effort to attack christianity.

The FACT is many states have already stripped religion out of the oath.

It is just a marking point to let the person testifying know they are now subject to purjury. no god mention.

The fact that the ACLU is push another religion is what is shocking. These are LAWYERS they KNOW the way it is done in other states which would not require them to push a religion. Why would the ACLU push some other alleged religion? The answer is the same reason they push homosexual marriage as "equivalent".

It is all the same deconstruct society BS.

Of course the lawyers of the ACLU will be the first ones shreaded (literally) if the moslems ever have complete power over them. Kill the useful idiots first after the revolution.

They are doing that in Canada, already. And getting a very sympathetic ear from the ruling elites, in spite of the fact that fundamentalist Sharia law is antithetical to everything the ruling elites claim to hold dear.

On the other hand, what use is swearing in the bible, a book they believe to be a lie and which they hate?

"I thought they wanted religious symbols out of the Court."

Only Judeo-Christian ones. The impotent, false gods of Islam, etc. are acceptable because they present no threat to the ACLU agenda. The One True God, on the other hand, is simply a menace that cannot be tolerated.

That brings up an interesting question. What if a Christian requests to swear on a Koran? The court wouldn't be able to deny that request. Yet if it were me, I wouldn't feel any special obligation because of it.

Or what if someone asked to swear on a Star Wars novel?

Crap. It is very curious - the ACLU loathes with an unmatched hatred everything Christian, and it doesn't seem that they are fond of religious Judaism either.

What is it about Islam they love? Surely, if Sharia law were enacted, the homosexual activist head of the ACLU would get stoned or worse.

I can only conclude that the ACLU and Islam are united in their hatred.
