"Do their names go on a "Do Not Enter the U. S. list?"
What would that matter when they are illegally entering through the Mexican border at a rate of 5000 per day?
To: Salvation; Pirate21
The American mainstream IS conservative, and the President knows it.

Thank you. Man some people here are so negative. Damn.
To: John Robertson
...a signal that, we approved yours, now you approve ours...will NOT work with the Democrats ... I feel more than confident that the President knows this will NOT work with the "other side." He was NOT addressing the ant-American/socialist/communist members of the SINate.
His signal was to us, the voters, the constituents of the absolute moronic idiots in the SINate, to motivate "we the people" to start bombarding the SINators with OUR opinions and not just leave it up to the Daily KOS, moveon.org, cpusa, DU, Soros crowd.

That's the way they like to live their lives, hotsteppa..........negative about everything, overreacting to anything.
It's best to ignore them and simply speak the truth.

My nominee will be a fair-minded individual who represents the mainstream of American law and American values. What happened to strict constructionist?

I believe that President Bush is saying he will nominate someone who will faithfully interpret our Constitution. That may well be you belief, but it is not what he said. He said it plain enough before a vacancy, he should have no trouble making it crystal clear now.
Scalia and Thomas are hardly mainstream, but they are certainly strict costitutionalist.

If more FReepers would occasionally rip him a new one when he steps in it up to his knees perhaps some political analyists in the WH might suggest a few policy changes that would be beneficial to America instead of China and Mexico. Bingo, bump

I hope that you and all the members of your family lose your jobs to illegal aliens before the next election.
Thanks for your, oh so kind, wishes. People such as you are a disgrace to FreeRepublic. Go back to the DU.

Yes, negativity seems to be the theme. My interpretation of the speech is just the opposite...but to some... the sky is always "falling"

Second, the House needs to follow the Senate's lead by approving the Central American and Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement. How 'bout NO?

Or is the "new" word for following the Constitution -- originalist? I've heard that too. What is the difference?

For the most part the terms are regarded as interchangeable. But technically, "strict constructionist" simply means that you allow little or no latitude at all in how you read the words of the document. It more or less means the same as "literalist".
"Originalist", on the other hand, means that you read it according to how the document was originally understood by the generation that wrote and ratified it, as best as can be determined.
For the most part, both approaches will generally give you the same answer.

LOL! You're right about that. Not only have they not heard the news, but even if they did they'd deny it.
As Rush says, the MSM is the only business in which the consumer is ALWAYS wrong............and so they have fewer and fewer consumers as time goes by.

Invoking Ginsbug and Breyer as a signal that, we approved yours, now you approve ours...will NOT work with the Democrats, at all.
I agree wholeheartedly. The President has tried a similar tactic with Social Security reform to no avail.
