Police Keep Close Eye On Border Vigilantes

Vigilantes Spark Protests From Civil Rights Groups

POSTED: 3:48 pm PDT July 15, 2005 UPDATED: 5:28 pm PDT July 15, 2005

SAN DIEGO -- A group of volunteers that plan to start monitoring the San Diego County-Mexico border this weekend -- and their foes -- will not be allowed to commit vigilante or racial violence, authorities said Friday.

Participants in the grassroots project "Operation Border Watch" must limit their involvement to "eyes and ears and talking," San Diego County Sheriff Bill Kolender warned.

"If there's any violation of the law ... on either side of this issue, law enforcement will, in fact, take action," Kolender said during a news conference.

Also attending the midmorning briefing at the sheriff's Kearny Mesa headquarters were officials with the U.S. Border Patrol and the Chula Vista and National City police departments.

In recent weeks, preparations for the civilian immigration-control effort have sparked protests from civil rights groups, as did similar endeavors conducted in Arizona this year by a group called the Minutemen.

Opponents called the self-appointed border enforcers -- most of whom carry guns -- dangerous vigilantes and bigots.

The monitors say their goal is to help enforce immigration laws and that they carry firearms strictly for self-defense.

Along with law enforcement agencies, immigrant-advocacy groups have promised to send observers to the county's arid southern reaches to keep an eye on the volunteer border watchers.

No need to stop illegal aliens - it's not in the Rulers' Plan for the peasants (that's us, by the way). "Vigilantes" just slow down our loss of sovereignty. By 2010, there will be no border between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, according to the “Building a North American Community” report by the Council on Foreign Relations.

This just BEGGS for a comedy sketch where the incompetent CF police are harrassing the border watchers while illegals walk right by unmolested.

"Law enforcement agencies turn against the US citizenry, and leave the criminals alone. Anyone see anything wrong with this picture?"

This is a "perversion" of government. You border stater's carefully check your state Constitutions. My Maryland Constitution states in the "Declaration of Rights";

Article 1. That all Government of right originates from the People, is founded in compact only, and instituted solely for the good of the whole; and they have, at all times, the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their Form of Government in such manner as they may deem expedient.

Article 6. That all persons invested with the Legislative or Executive powers of Government are the Trustees of the Public, and, as such, accountable for their conduct: Wherefore, whenever the ends of Government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the People may, and of right ought, to reform the old, or establish a new Government; the doctrine of non-resistance against arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

The only thing left out is the HOW. The right is documented.
Since most state Constitutions are base on the US Constitution, I would bet some border states have the same wording.

If this situation is not what the writers of my states Constitution had in mind I don't know what they could have meant.

California: Police Keep Close Eye On Border Vigilantes

You know what would have been really, really cool?

If about 10 years ago, this very headline would have appeared with the last word missing:

California: Police Keep Close Eye On Border

Then none of this would have been necessary.

"A group of volunteers that plan to start monitoring the San Diego County-Mexico border this weekend -- and their foes -- will not be allowed to commit vigilante or racial violence, authorities said Friday."

So how many incidents of "vigilante or racial violence" has there been to date? Any? Perhaps they should also warn these men about not beating their wives as well.

Good point. I would add that if we hadn't become a welfare society with all sorts of "rights" given to illegal aliens, plus if English had become our official language, we would not have had to worry about the border itself quite as much.

LOL!!! Yeah I guess that, that would be too obvious for the politicians and "journalist" to consider.

"Vigilantes Spark Protests From Civil Rights Groups"

They're not vigilantes until they do something illegal, like taking the law into their own hands. It's hard to understand how the media can refer to them as 'vigilanties' simply because they've volunteered to help the police and border patrol by reporting illegal entrants to them.

I bet you a silver dollar that they would go bonkers if the illegal was not wearing their seat belt.

I dunno - I bet the illegal would get let off, because he has no money, no ID, no way to collect the fine, etc. Laws like that are just a 'revenue enhancement' - they come down hard on the working stiff with a paycheck. The eliete folks and illegals skate out, you and me get the punishment.

Someone needs to point out to the Police that the illegals are not likely to vote for pay raises for police departments. The more of them they get the less the Police are likely to benefit.

Citizens who are trying to protect our borders are now "border vigilantes," huh? Maybe the lamestream media idiot who came up with that headline will sing a different song when a family member is the target of a crime committed by an illegal alien.

"The Friggin Pols in Washington have sewn the wind with this bullshit, now they can reap the whirlwind."

Nah, their plush estates and lavish lifestyle insulates them from reaping the whirlwind of mass illegal immigration. They haven't got a clue.

Saw the hyphenated American on TV who claims their faith based group will be monitoring the Minutemen -and who called the other guy a racist -- Funny hting is the so called faith based group spokesman also said they don't
care if the people coming across are "documented," or not.
Legla-or illegla or drug dealers or OTM doesn't matter this so called faith based group is there to make sure they get free access to that American Pie.Problem I have with such is if they are Christian they ought be concerned with those who obey the Law and those who come to ignore-violate the law. IF they are there to help 'em all their
religion is NOT Christian AND UN-AMERICAN.

"ANY VIOLATIONS OF THE LAW" . . .

Come on cut the crap, that is precisely why "Border Watchers" are there - to bring public attention to massive violations of the law by illegal aliens, while law enforcement does nothing!

If there is any "racial violence" it would likely be commited by the MECHA types. After all, their motto is "For THE RACE everything, for all others nothing".

Then we need to make them feel it, and in a very personal way.

and IT SURE WOULD BE GREAT if th emere politicians and the
Judiciary would honor and act as if they were under the
same Constitution and Laws they impress upon everyone else.
That the "Police" and the Border Patrol"have NOT enforced the Law but by wink and not allowed drug traffickers and
alQaida -and thousands of OTM come across at will is WHY
we need More patriotic Americans to watch those who draw
salary to make our borders secure.

" They're not vigilantes until they do something illegal, like taking the law into their own hands."

It's harder still to understand how they are taking the law into their own hands when there IS no law.

There's only a Pretense of law based on some document that our government has completely ignored.

Until they reinstitute OUR government in this country there is only rule by force of arms, until then we are all resisters in a new Civil War.

Damn Washington DC, damn the Politicians and Damn the Police.

Resources to track watchers but none to look for criminal aliens. That's your position Sheriff?

As appalling as it seems, that's the position from the highest level of government down to the lowest.

It's also the position of nearly every media outlet, many businesses, the US Chamber of Commerce, and most religious organizations, not to mention the usual suspects like the ACLU.
