Central London is the only place you'd see armed officers on an everyday basis. I went through Heathrow not too long ago and there were police all over the place in pairs toting MP-5's. American's are used to our cops being armed but you rarely see them lugging submachine guns around over here.
More's the pity ...
To: zarf
is there a phone number, a tip line of some kind we can call to tell them to shoot?

Yes that's true. When you do see armed officers over here, their guns tend to be big ones!

I will be a very proud and much more comforted American when this statement is followed by by the words "from President George W. Bush and Sec. of State, Donald Rumsfeld..."Just goes to show you how much further Left our own Dims and MSM are compared to the Socialists in Britain. Over here, they would set up a howl that made it impossible to sleep at night and even the SCOTUS would decide that it violated the "Constitutional Rights" of terrorists to have anything bad happen to them before they slaughtered innocents.

I suspect you realize the hue and cry that would arise from the civil libertarians. It would be deafening even her on FreeRepublic. I can just hear it now: "why just think what Hillary would do if she could she any one out of the country based only on 'suspicion'".

In a country where not all the police carry weapons, elite sniper squads now have shoot-to-kill orders, if there's intelligence that a terror suspect might have a bomb, and he refuses to surrender when challenged by police. What if he's holding a baby in front of him as a human shield? Can these elite snipers do the job or will they do the baby first then do the job? License to kill? Bond...James Bond....

Because they won't come back.

IIRC it wasn't a sniper who killed the baby you are referencing.

i love it when liberals get religion!
now, the next step would be for the countries that have suffered terrorism to put together a joint task force to kill terrorists.
find them and kill them.
done.

You're right, it was a street cop. But it was a highly skilled sniper that put a bullet through the brain of an innocent unarmed woman holding a baby on the front porch of her home. He was indicted, but he got off. I think my point is, I don't like it when the government removes power to defend oneself from the people and gives it to itself, because then abuses tend to happen. It's against the law in UK to even defend yourself from an attacker, much less a terrorist. We're going down the same path and it inched along when FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi Killed Vickie Weaver at Ruby Ridge. In fact, it inches along every day.

It's only the lowly Bobbies that don't carry. They're little more than meter-boys. Access to automatic weapons is never far away. Don't anyone forget, this country fought a guerrilla war with the IRA for many, many years. Al-Q may have picked on the wrong bunch of tea-sippers.
