Bush was right, the democrats were wrong, let's attack one of Bush's associates for doing something that wasn't illegal, hey, no time to comment on those deficits we've managed to find time to comment on every day since they appeared.

The Democrats just can't win but they set themselves up over an over again to be on the losing side of issues. They have been placing their bets on America losing and as long as they do that they will lose because America is bigger and better than the left in America.

They should balance the budget this year. It would be a snap to do so, entirely by cutting fat. But they won't do it because the public and the media are not holding their feet to the fire.

It was the same thing recently when improvements in test scores was in the news and no one in the media wanted to credit No Child Left Behind.
Repubs need to trumpet this. If they don't blow the Administrations' horn, no one else will.

Where are the Bush-bashers? They've always been quick to criticize the deficit spending, and here's an article that states we're whittling down the deficit, and the bashers are nowhere to be found? I guess they don't gravitate toward good news.

"demonicRATs' knickers in a twist..." Their knickers have been in a perpetual twist ever since President Bush first got elected!

The federal government has no business being involved with education. Defecit cuts are a much better issue for the GOP to trumpet IMO.

I have a very liberal, lawyer daughter-in-law who got her undergraduate degree in economics. She absolutely refuses to believe that cutting taxes has a benefical effect on revenues. They only thing she wants done concerning taxes is to constantly raise them. My wife told me that her college professor gave her a special award for "refuting" the Laffer Curve or supply-side economics. My wife told me this in all seriousness. I had a difficult time to keep from laughing.

You'd be amazed (or maybe you wouldn't) at the numbers of common people who think that Dems are geniuses concerning economic matters. I know a number of Dem co-workers who devoutly believe that economic prosperity is the result of the government fiddling with some magical mechanism resulting in increased wealth. I'm no economic genius, but when I ask them simple questions about economic matters, they have no idea what I'm talking about. Of course they're simply repeating what their lib masters tell them.

Agreed though there's a perception amongst voters (at least according to the MSM every election cycle) that Republicans are strong on national defense and Dems are strong on domestic issues.
Repubs have to trumpet all domestic successes to counter the view that Dems are good at anything. Though, like you, I'd rather see education left to the states entirely.
