In journalism, the definition of “leak” suggests that it is applied to government officials who purposely give reporters secret or confidential information in order to publicize something they do not like so that it can be defeated before being voted upon. “Outing” a CIA agent is only a crime if the agent is under cover overseas or has been during the past five years. This law was created to prevent the assassinations of CIA agents on foreign shores as had been caused by Philip Agee in 1978 who listed CIA agents undercover in foreign cities, causing the murder of some.
With these two realities in mind, only a propagandist, who really and unreasonable hates President Bush, could tell such lies about Karl Rove!
1. Rove did not call a reporter to leak something. The reporter called Rove to verify a story about Joseph Wilson, which was not true. Rove tried to explain that neither President Bush nor Vice-President Cheney authorized his trip to Niger; but that it was someone in the CIA who had. Rove then said, in an effort to keep the reporter from going with a false story, that apparently Wilson’s wife worked for the CIA and it was she who had recommended him.
2. It was Novak who actually put the name, “Valerie Plame” into the newspaper and he had called the CIA to be sure that it was OK to reveal her name. Since she was NOT a covert agent, the CIA did not stop him. Joseph Wilson, himself, was recorded as saying that Novak did not “out” his wife wrongly as she was NOT a covert agent at the time. Actually, Plame has been in management at the CIA as a known CIA employee since the days she dated and married Wilson!
Based on these two facts, let’s stop the false attacks on Rove and Bush. The only agent that has been truly “outed” is Fulton Armstrong—not by Rove, but by Senator John Kerry, according to a story in Newsmax on 7/14/2005. Where are Pelosi, Reid and Kennedy now? Why are they so quiet about this?

Could minor Ambassador Joe Wilson himself have been the source in blowing his own Wife's "cover" (even if she had not been a covert CIA agent at the time of the alleged leaks)?
It is distinctly possible, (though it may be unlikely that Joe Wilson himself directly was NY Times Judith Miller's source), since Joe Wilson himself evidently routinely bragged openly to strangers about her CIA employment, prior to such "cover" being "blown" in the press.
Here's an example of Joe's apparently routine and open bragging about Valerie being a "CIA agent," which became known directly to me over a year ago:
He certainly bragged about it per a famous and highly reliable source's (named below) account of his own face-to-face encounter with Amb. Joe Wilson prior to Valerie Plame's "outing" as a CIA agent/employee.
Based upon a personal conversation (we were in a small group eating; it was NOT an "off the record") I had with eminent historian Victor Davis Hanson (we were at a luncheon table together during a trip to Europe), it appeared entirely possible that Joe Wilson himself was the (or one source, if not the original one) possible source in revealing his own wife's status as a CIA agent or employee.
Victor Davis Hanson (Wilson presumably knew Victor Davis Hanson wrote regularly for NRO (National Review Online), had done OpEds for the Wall street Journal, and other publications, and had his own Website with a widespread following) said he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were both in the same "Green Room" before a televised debate-discussion on Iraq, etc. and Joe first warned the TV make-up person not to get powder on his $14,000 Rolex watch, then he bragged to Victor about several things (possessions and trips to Aspen, etc.), like his expensive car (I think it was a Mercedes), and then bragged about his beautiful ("hot") wife who, Joe Wilson said (braggingly) was a CIA operative.
I asked Victor Davis Hanson Why he didn't write up this account.(?) He replied that Joe Wilson would probably simply deny it, since only he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were in the Green Room together before the broadcast.
However, it is now easy to surmise that Joe Wilson is a crass, materialistic, self-promoting, vain, egotistical, bragaddocio-opportunist, so this account is perfectly consistent with Valerie Plame's TWO photo shoots in Vanity Fair.

In my opinion, the CIA would not have responded in that fashion if Ms. Plame had covert status. Instead of "operative" or "agent", I think her title is more correctly "employee".

Given too many recent events, I don't know if they are really trying to get Bush, per se. They want to discredit the Repubs any way they can. If they really were TARGETING BUSH specifically, they could easily go after him on the issue of national security involving the borders, illegal immigration, the covert ONE AMERICA agenda, all of it -- but they don't. It is possible they are sandbagging these areas until 2008, or even 2006 to attempt to regain the House and Senate in a big way.
Bush does have resolve, but are his real proactive agendas in the best interest of America? I have serious doubts. Pretend that 9/11 never happened -- now, reanalyze the entire Bush administrations years...interesting things pop out of it.
Keep the faith -- the people will prevail, and that is really what counts in America. That is what America is all about -- the individual American citizen. And that is what is at stake, no matter what perspective you come at it from.

I actually believe that both Rove and Bush really have evolved a very firm and direct set of shared guidelines on how to handle both the liberal press and the Democrat hacks who are within the CIA, likely Clinton appointees. After all there is a reason we have a new director of the CIA. If Plame had compromised her oath as a CIA employee in any opposition to change demanded of the CIA by our president, she would have been fired and/or charged with an offense. Instead her husband was used to engage in the Dems initiative to prove that our CIC lied about the reasons for war in Iraq.
This whole affair illustrates just how comprehensive the changes within the CIA likely are. We know such changes are needed based upon the lack of comprehensive intelligence on Islamofascism secured by the CIA prior to 9/11.This is good news by itself and Rove's beneficial fingerprints are all over this affair.
Dems were aced by the GOP again. And the liberal media still thinks our CIC is stupid. Hillary Clinton jokes that

This administration is beginning to show a form of domestic image mastery that we have not seen for many years, since the Reagan administration. Oh to be a fly on the wall of the White House press room tomorrow! It is now our presidents work to unify our nation as best he can,

I think people tend to generalize when it comes to using terms to describe someone's "employment" in government agencies. For example, I worked for the IRS 20 years ago. I tell people I was an IRS "Agent", because it is easier to use a term most people are familiar with. My actual title was Revenue Officer, but the distinctions between the duties of an "Agent" and an "Officer" are lost on most people, so I don't elaborate.
I want to know where Wilson got the money for that crap BEFORE he wrote his book.

Wilson handled the contracts, because he knew lots of people in Africa. It was the "CIA" that requested this investigation. We've all been assuming that the request was to find the leaker about Valerie's identity.
But just what if.....the request was actually to build a case against Joe & Valerie? How much secret information did she share with him? She obviously can't keep a secret since according to Joe, she outed herself to him on their third date.
What if Joe blew it himself by writing his NYT article and his book. Don't CIA people have to keep their mouths shut about trips? Findings? etc???
