I think Biden must have copied this idea from another Senator.

Biden is one of the MOST vain, obnoxious, arrogant, intolerant, hateful, loathsome, egotistical, haughty, conceited, narcissictic, self-important, big-headed, nauseating, vile, supercilious and insufferable sub-humans in the Senate. I'll grant you there are many that fit that description, but Biden outshines them all when it comes to being repulsive.

These jokers never urged President Clinton, who didn't even receive a majority of the popular vote in either of his presidential elections, to pick a consensus or mainstream candidate, or one who would respect the Constitution enough to be acceptable to Republicans. Sad to say, neither did the Republicans, as evidenced by Orin Hatch's comments to the effect that RBG would easily be voted through the Senate, which she was without even so much as a "but, uh, wait a minute..." Repubs never put up a fight against liberal nominees...not even GHWB's nominee--David Souter, who they had to have known was a moderate/left-of-center nominee.
