'Candide' clone placemarker.
He should have just purchased his 'pain relieveing narcotics' off the Internet. Had Rush done this instead of the allegation of 'Doctor Shopping' (notice I said allegation), He wouldn't have given the lonnies on the Left the ammunition they have to instantly discredit him. But alas, soon the DEA will shut this avenue down for those of us that suffer from chronic pain, due to the lowlifes that abuse this.
Nowhere now. The DEA and law enforcement agents pull it up wherever it grows.
Perhaps, my dear, you are unaware of the current DEA head-hunt for doctors who in their estimation prescribe 'too much' pain medication. Some of these doctors are pain specialists. Some have lost their licenses, and some have gone to jail.
This is within the last two to three years.
Before that, pain treatment was finally getting respect and attention. Now this. It is frightening to many who suffer from chronic pain to contemplate returning to a life of disability. That's what it's like to have to live with pain that keeps you doubled over, face contorted, afraid to leave the house.
Pain meds can make the difference between that pathetic state and living a normal life - with a job and hobbies and family.
That's why this fight is worth fighting. Whether you think it's real or not - it is real. Do a little research. (NRO has done a few pieces on it recently, for starters.)
Kansas and Nebraska, for starters, by the side of the road. It's so common, the locals refer to it as "ditchweed."
It still makes me cringe because my Mother-in-law made the drs take my FIL off of mMorphine because she didn't want him to get addicted. He was in so much pain and he no pain medication until the last 2 days after I threw a screaming, crying fit in the hall for everyone to see...and then she let them give him Demerol.
Excuse me, I have been on FR since 1998.
I do not ever read the nyt.
My info on this particular issue comes from National Review... and unfortunate personal experience.
So... STFU. That's all.
And when you have had to walk across the street like a 100-year-old cripple because you are in so much pain...
MAYBE THEN you can come off condescending to me.
OK?
ahole?
